Feel free to remove it if it's too far removed from derps - but these guys are also Columbidae, so I thought I would give it a try. The wing slaps are FIERCE.
Every year, juveniles have a short period when they don't really perceive humans as threats. I left a chair out on the balcony to dry a backpack on in the sun. This little guy claimed the shade immediately and didn't even move when I opened the door to pick up my backpack. It's currently still snoozing on the chair.
I am going to travel with my bike on the EN50237 in a 4-person sleeper. I see that this train has no bike parking spaces. My question is: where do I put the bike? Does anyone have any advice to share?
Four juveniles from two different pairs of parents started coming to our balcony feeders this week. I suspect that for one of the couples this is already a second brood this season, although the nests are somewhere else. The younglings are getting better at calculating the distance to the feeder, although there are still some crash landings. Also, one of them took a particular dislike to house sparrows and keeps swatting them away.
The first thing I saw after I woke up at the break of dawn, to join my local birdathon.
These two are one of our couples. She seems to be treated a little unfairly by molting season, but they found some time to flatten and chill in the afternoon.
