Rework cooked crafts for the next build, please?

Roasted fish,

Heated split pea soup,

Heated meatballs,

Everything requiring water, and water being ultra rare is absurd. Please, I want to cook pea soup. It's already in a can! Heat and eat! Watering it down too? Like some kinda cambels concentrate or something.

Where can I find big lab grown gemstones?

Picture for reference.

Hello! I'm still trying to find where I can get lab grown gemstone/crystal for faceting. This guys video popped up on my youtube feed, and I'm astonished at the size of this lab grown crystal!

Where can I buy huge crystals like that for faceting? No site I've seen so far has anything even close.

Any folks have experience buying from mines?

I've been looking at gemstone mines, in particular Oregon's Spectrum mine for Sunstone, and noticed some sell some of their "gravel" via mail. My ability to travel is pretty limited, and I was hoping to get some sizeable finds.. but gravel sounds petty small. I don't know what size comes out of mines normally.

I'm shopping around to other mines to see if I can get a variety of gem stones, and I'm starting to see similar there as well. Another mine sells baggies of dirt and rocks (other gemstone types) and it doesn't feel like I'd be finding much of anything.

I don't think that they'd try to rip me off, but I also don't know what to expect.

Any comicly large rough gemstones that is inexpensive?

Hiya, I love gemstones. And I'd love to cut a rough of a large gemstone. Other than quartz, I can't think of any inexpensive gem stones that get huge but also is affordable. Any suggestions?

(Just throw out suggestions and I'll decide if it's affordable or not.)

Edit: great suggestions, thank you

What's the prqctical difference between higher end faceting machines and mid tier?

I'm entering this hobby of gem faceting, and while I was hoping to get a used machine, there are none being offered in my area.

I was looking at Ultra Tek. Once I got over the sticker shock of these things new, I began to wonder what I'm getting for investing in a higher price tag.

I'm specifically looking at at the VL Classic, and the V5 Classic. I also don't know what a digital/analog system affects things.

If fine with saving up if I get a dramatic quality and precision boost going with higher end machines. I just don't know what these more expensive machines really do to set them apart from the mid tier costing machines like the VL Classic.

Hiya, newbie here.

I'm trying to do comprehensive research, and my usual avenue of looking at what people say on youtube has not yielded any good results. I don't even know what I should be looking for when researching a new machine.

Most reviews on YT are an individual machine. One comment a week or two ago suggested looking up an Ultra Tek machine for $2k used, except I can only find ONE used faceting machine in the next state over, and it's not Ultra Tek.

I aim to read the book Amature Gemstone Faceting by Tom Herbst before pulling any triggers. So I've got time if you good folks have any suggestions for what I should even be paying attention to when looking for a new machine.

I don't have money for a high end machine, judging by the cost of new. But I also dont want a cheapie.

Hey lapidary enthusiast, I've got a question.

What kind of debris does lapidary work put out? I know faceting machines have a drip for the grinder thing (still learning terms) , and I imagine that helps cut down. But what kind of particles does this put out?

Some? None? A lot? Enough that I'll notice over a period of time? Would you feel safe putting a machine in the same room as a gaming PC?

I'm entering the space as a newbie. Ordered Amature Gemstone Faceting by Tom Herbst before I consider getting a machine for lapidary work. But I'm also trying to figure out where to put the thing if I go that way. And what precautions I need in place, and what i need to watch out for.

I've got a thing for beautifully cut gems. I like the crystalline shape, the prisming of the light, and the shape of the cut.

But I'm by no means a wealthy woman.

Anyone got any tips on how I might feed this love for cut gems without breaking the bank? What I can shop for, or whatnot? Real gems, fake gems, etc.

(Just no plastic cut to look like real gems, they often lose the appeal.)
