I just found out from watching the news that the areas outside of Portland have a frost advisory. Well crap. While I picked my remaining tomatoes today, I left my peppers because they last longer on the bush than in my fridge. I just came in from picking them all with a flashlight. Now I have a TJ’s paper bag full of bell, poblano, shishito, jalapeño and Serrano peppers. What am I going to do with all these peppers all at once? Wasn’t it just 80° a week ago??

My old FoodSaver has finally died so I’m looking for a new sealer. The displacement method in the ziplock just isn’t the same. Any countertop favorites that I should consider?

I’m just sick. After about a decade of raising masons a squirrel found my house. It chewed through the bird mesh and then knocked the whole house on the ground, tossing tubes everywhere. We got almost two inches of rain in the past two days and the tubes are soaked and unraveling. Then it feasted on what it could find by chewing through the sides of the intact tubes. I’ve replaced it with dry tubes and have secured chicken wire on top of the bird net. I hope the girls come back. I put out the last of my cocoons two weeks ago. They’re so destructive and tear up everything in our yard. So sick of them. 😞
