Cannes Film Festival accommodation, villa vs hotel for industry newbie?

I have the opportunity to attend the Cannes Film Festival for the first time next year. I'm going for work in the film industry adjacent but not a major studio player, more independent.

I need to figure out accommodation for about 10 days. I've heard hotels near the Croisette are insanely expensive and book out a year in advance. Villas seem like a potential option, especially if I share with a few colleagues.
But I'm nervous about being too far from the action and missing last-minute meetings or events.
Has anyone done both during the festival? Is a villa viable if you need to be in the mix constantly? Also any areas to look at besides Cannes proper?

The budget is maybe €8-12k total for accommodation.

Coffee vending for small offices, is it worth it or a waste of time?

I've been in the traditional vending game for a couple years snacks, sodas. The spoilage and constant restocking of 20+ products per machine is wearing me down.

I'm thinking of pivoting to something simpler: coffee-only machines placed in small offices 10–30 people.

The model I'm considering:

  • Machine makes one product: fresh brewed coffee
  • Office pays a flat monthly fee
  • I visit once a week to refill beans and cups
  • No expired inventory, no dozens of SKUs to track

What appeals to me:

  • Lower time commitment per location
  • No perishable waste
  • Recurring revenue

What I'm unsure about:

  • Is the profit per location actually decent?
  • Do small offices even want this, or do they stick with their Keurig?
  • How do you handle machine repairs, do you need a technician background?

Anyone here running coffee-only vending? I would love to hear real numbers and real headaches.

I am a painter and illustrator from Brazil. I have been working as a freelance artist for about 7 years. I have had two solo exhibitions in small galleries in Sao Paulo. My work has been featured in a few online art magazines. I also have a following of about 25,000 on Instagram where I post my work regularly.

I am interested in applying for an O-1 visa to work in the US. From what I have read, O-1 requires extraordinary ability which means I need to meet at least three of the criteria like awards, media coverage, exhibitions, high salary, or judging others' work.
Here is where I stand:
Exhibitions - I have two solo shows in small galleries. They were not major museums. Does that count?
Media coverage - I have been mentioned in two online art blogs and one local newspaper. Nothing like the New York Times or major publications.
Awards - I won a small regional art competition once. No national or international awards.
Salary - My income from art is about $35,000 per year. That is good for Brazil but probably low for US standards.
Judging - I have never judged anyone else's work.
Sales - I have sold about 200 paintings over the years mostly through Instagram and local markets.
I know O-1 is very hard to get. But I see other artists online who seem to get it with similar profiles. Am I being unrealistic? Has any visual artist here successfully gotten an O-1 without major awards or big gallery representation?

I am planning to consult with a lawyer but wanted to get some real experiences first. Thank you.

I'm 28, worked retail and warehouse jobs my whole life. I've never run a business or even done anything remotely entrepreneurial.

I have about $3k saved. I'm not looking to get rich overnight. I just want to try something small, learn the ropes, and prove to myself that I can actually do it.

I'm willing to work hard on nights and weekends. But I need something with clear steps and not too many moving parts. No employees, no complicated permits, no constant customer service headaches.

What's something a complete beginner can actually pull off?

I'm applying for a B-2 tourist visa to visit the US for two weeks. I have a cousin in Chicago who I'll stay with, and we plan to visit some nearby cities and maybe New York for a few days.

I'm putting together my itinerary but unsure how detailed it needs to be. Right now I have:

  • Days 1-5: Chicago cousin's address included
  • Days 6-8: Road trip to Detroit general, no hotel booked yet
  • Days 9-12: New York no specific plans, just sightseeing
  • Days 13-14: Back to Chicago before flight home

Is this too vague? Will the officer expect hotel reservations and flight bookings between cities? I don't want to book everything in advance in case my visa gets denied.

Also, should I bring proof of my cousin's status, her visa or green card copy? She's a permanent resident.

Any advice from people who've done a B-2 with a similar loose itinerary would be great. Thanks.

I submitted my DS-160 last week and immediately realized I put the wrong travel date. It's off by about two weeks. I know you can bring a corrected version to the interview, but now I'm spiraling.

From what I've read:

  • Officers understand small errors
  • Bringing an updated DS-160 confirmation with the correct date helps
  • Lying is the only unforgivable thing

But I've also seen people say any inconsistency makes you look dishonest. My interview is in 10 days. Should I just bring the correction and explain upfront? Or wait and see if they ask?

Has anyone here actually done this and still gotten approved?
