Hi everyone!
I'm getting back into solo TTRPGs after a looooong break, and I'm specifically looking for horror and dark fantasy games to play. I used to spend quite a bit of time around this community back in 2019 with my personal account, mostly playing games and posting actual plays (on here and on a blog I abandoned), so it's nice to be coming back to solo RPGs again and see what is new since then!
My particular obsession is monsters — especially weird, grotesque, eldritch and Lovecraftian creatures — so I would definitely enjoy creature-heavy games. In fact, I was planning to get into Mothership because it seems right up my alley with its Alien / The Thing / Event Horizon vibes. Plus, I also I saw someone has already produced a Solo rules supplement for it! I still need to pick up the core books, though!
Beyond that, I'm very interested in discovering indie and standalone games, especially lesser-known projects that might have flown under my radar. As I remember enjoying them A LOT back then (including journalling games).
So please, throw your horror/dark fantasy solo RPG recommendations at me so I can play them. 😄
Of course, if you've created or published your own solo horror game, adventure, setting, or supplement, I'd love to hear about it as well.
Thanks! I'm looking forward to discovering what people are making. 🐙
Hi all, so I have been considering doing some illustrations for horror or horror-adjacent fanzines. But the few I have reached out to usually give me the same reply: "Sure, we'll be happy to work with you, just send us something COMPLETELY ORIGINAL THAT HAS NEVER SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY" and by that they mean not just not published by another fanzine (obviously) but also never shown before in any online spaces.
Moreover, I thought that fanzines, when having open calls, also want to collect works around a theme (for example, in my specific case, I would expect a horror-zine next release could be about slashers, zombies, etc) to make their next release a cohesive collection of works around said theme. However, a few zines I have reached out to don't even do this so I feel they expect me to produce stuff work for them (for free, as payment is never discussed) without even a minimum guidance of what they will accept? Is this the norm?
I would expect that if you already had, let's say, a comic you wanted published somewhere, you would reach out to them with your already finished comic but, wouldn't you just publish that yourself somewhere online?
