Which actors do you think could have had a great career but didn't for whatever reason?

I really think Amanda Bynes could have had a great career had her mental health not gotten so bad. Her career was just starting to take off right when it ended.

She was supposed to play Megan Fox's character in This Is 40. Judd Apatow would have been the perfect director for her to work with, and I could have totally imagined him eventually giving her a leading role in something.

It makes me sad whenever I think about it. She was so bubbly and charismatic on screen, and everyone who grew up watching her loved her.

How much brainpower does it take for the hivemind to work?

Does it work for infants? People with brain damage? Old people with Alzheimer's?

What if you have multiple personalities? Would all of them be part of the hive or only one?

What movies feel like unofficial adaptations of something else?

Like how David Fincher's "The Killer" felt like a Hitman/Agent 47 adaptation. I know it was apparently based on some graphic novel but it felt so much like the games aside from the fact that Fassbender's character had hair lol. It's also way better than any adaptation we're ever going to get.

I remember people also saying that Pain & Gain felt like a GTA movie.

Do you think a singular genre (like westerns, musicals, high fantasy epics, superhero movies) will ever dominate Hollywood again?

Or do you think there will just be more of a blend from now on?

I don’t think any of those genres will ever cease to exist entirely or that new ones can’t still be successful, but I don’t see any of them reaching the point where multiple high profile ones release every year.

The only other genre that I think, in theory, could have become a big thing is video game film adaptations made for adults but I’ve lost all hope for that happening. I think those will just be adapted as TV shows. The successful movies are just going to be aimed at children.

[The Boys] Why does the general public find supes entertaining if there are no supervillains that can threaten them?

I know that supervillains eventually popped up, but superheroes had been around for like 80 years by that point.

What are all the in-universe superhero movies and TV shows even about? Even low-level supes are bulletproof and we don't see any human villains that can threaten them (like, I don't know, someone like Doc Ock).

Do they just exclusively stop bank robbers? Wouldn't that get super boring?

Mesmer's TV show was the only one that made sense because it was basically a Doogie Howser-esque detective show.

Who are the best non-toxic male love interests in film?

My favorite is probably Stanley Tucci's character in Julie and Julia. He was just a guy who adored his wife and wasn't threatened by her ambition. I think him and Meryl Streep are my favorite on-screen combo.

And despite my issues with the second Devil Wears Prada, I thought Kenneth Branagh's character (Miranda's most recent husband) was great and wish he got more screentime. Writing a believable love interest for someone like Miranda probably wasn't easy, but the two of them had really good chemistry, and it felt believable that they were together. He was supportive, laid back, not judging or demanding, and showed up when she needed him.

The sequel spent so much screentime satirizing tech bros and I would have much preferred they used that time to show more of Miranda's marriage. She was so miserable and lonely in the first one, and finally letting her have some shred of happiness in her personal life was one of the few ways the sequel justified its existence.

How did you feel about Devil Wears Prada 2? (Spoilers)

I walked in expecting the writing to only be okay but for it to still be entertaining because of the main cast’s performances…and that’s pretty much what happened.

I still enjoyed it but sometimes the writing just felt off. The pacing was weird and everything felt too clean. The first one showed how cutthroat the fashion industry was and that you might have to betray even your best friend to survive. In this one, the conflicts all resolved without any major consequences for any of the good guys. One of my favorite shots in any movie is towards the end of the first one when Miranda “wins” and is standing on the steps surrounded by paparazzi but realizes she’s completely alone because Andy left her.

There was no scene like that in the sequel. Everything works out fine for everyone without any major consequences or sacrifices. I really wish they had just made Emily the villain from the start because Miranda’s former assistant turning on her because she forced her out of Runway would have felt perfectly in line with the first story. But no, we had to get multiple scenes with BJ Novak instead.

Another issue I had was that Miranda just felt neutered. She was terrifying in the first one and Streep’s performance was captivating. She just felt beaten down and powerless in the sequel. I know that was the point but it wasn’t entertaining to watch. The first one made you feel like you were a fly on the wall next to a titan of the fashion industry but in this one it just felt like any other office. I couldn’t quite tell if Meryl Streep was phoning it in or if the script just made her character too sanitized. Did we really need multiple scenes saying how problematic her behavior was and how she needs to do better?

I know it sounds like I’m shitting on it but it was still a decently entertaining date night movie despite the issues I had with it. Anne Hathaway did an amazing job and had just as much bubbly energy as she did in the first one. Her love interest was such a fucking downgrade though. Adrian Grenier and Simon Baker may have been fuckboys but they were at least handsome and charming. This dude was just a block of wood and I couldn’t figure out why this highly successful, stunningly beautiful journalist with a great job in Manhattan was just head-over-heels for him.

Hey guys, I'm a writer and director that has always been a big fan of Ben 10 so I decided to take a crack at writing a script for what I think a film adaptation would/should be like. I'd really like to get feedback on it.

You can read it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YU79m4DICwyivKKTHNU80Z7l0966uiIm/view?usp=sharing

Please note that I, obviously, do not own the rights to these characters nor did Warner Bros/Man of Action/Cartoon Network hire me to do this. This was simply a fun creative writing exercise that I did in my spare time.

Logline: During a summer family road trip, a young boy stumbles across a mysterious device that allows him to transform into ten different alien forms. But he quickly discovers that this summer vacation will not be all fun and games and that he must use the device to defend himself against robots, bounty hunters, and the alien warlord known as Vilgax.

It's basically Shazam meets Little Miss Sunshine meets Men in Black.

I wanted it to be action-packed with humor and heart. My goal was for it to maintain the spirit of the original series but still appeal to those who never watched it. I wanted the tone to be reminiscent of Brad Bird, Robert Zemeckis, and Sam Raimi's films.

I hope you enjoy reading it! I had a lot of fun writing it. Any feedback would be appreciated.
