They didn't consider the bacteria

So, the"aliens", for lack of a better word, claim they do not harm any form of life.
But won't they step on ants when walking, or disturb bacteria on their skin when they bathe?
Are they okay?

So why are the plurbs maintaining existing body types?

Back when the “individual who was John Cena” was explaining HDP, they said JC needed about 8 containers of 300 calories for intake per day of HDP. Now granted this is very early in the show, I think it hasn’t even been 2 weeks since the merging. But by time we see Carol beg for the hive to come back, it has been about 2ish months.

So by then, if the plurbs are having a “food crisis” that will supposedly kill them over the next 10 years, why maintain people with heavier set body types? Of course there will be instances where you may need a strong person to lift something, but being a mass consciousness surely they could come together to either;

A: use several Individuals to lift an object.
Or
B: use machinery which they’re all just adept at.

A counter argument can be made for those who are lithe or uncharacteristically thin. Sure a nimble person is good for right to reach spaces, but assumedly they are going to now have those people eat more for the sake of the collective.

Seems like we should be seeing a lot of collective weight loss and weight gain until almost everyone is a uniform body type as that would maximize their food supply.
So by the current time we are at in the show. I would think the individual who was John cena has deflated his muscle mass a decent amount as trying to maintain his current size means less food for the collective as a whole.

Now obviously for show reasons they can’t hire a bunch of actors to all be the same body type or go through dramatic weight changes. Just seems like was something to discuss between Carol and whomever. We know the bodies still need rest after all, so it’s a surprise they don’t all maximize their body efficacy with cardio exercises as well

Hey Hive, let’s make a deal…

If I was one of the survivors I’d make a deal with the Hive and make all the food for them they can’t produce (knock down fruit, kill animals, etc) for the rest of my days if they agree to never attempt to turn me into one of them. The one guy asked if he killed the cow will they prep it and they said yes as they are only operating on existing killed game and harvested plants. I may even bring the rest of the surviving crew with me.

Thoughts?…

Regarding the Opening of the Season Finale

Not sure if this has come up in other finale discussions (and maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places) but did anyone else do a double-take in the season finale?

More specifically, did anyone else question as to why Kusimayu was the only one shown? Of course this could be a stylistic (and runtime-based) choice to only show one person doing the joining (and beautifully done of course) but doesn't Laxmi seem like another type of person who would volunteer for the joining as well?

Granted, we could also just end up starting Season 2 and we learn that more individuals beyond Kusimayu have committed to the joining but I thought it was interesting that they mentioned Laxmi giving a Carol a call after Manousos's testing. Part of it is probably just for the gag (and also the established fact that she would point fingers at her) but just some food for thought.

I could totally see them playing out Laxmi as a hypocrite in regards to the joining next season in which she amidts she's scared of the joining and would rather "play family" than actually become part of the hive. It'd give her character a standout moment, explain that she may just be judgemental because of projection, and also differentiate her from some of the other survivors.

Do you the Others/Pluribus has good intentions?

I've been curious about general fan consensus on this since I finished the series. I was watching it from the perspective that this is how the others survive, and the only way they've ever really perceived life. So while characters like Carol may see them as a threat, they genuinely believe they're doing something altruistic.

But I watched some breakdowns after word, many people seem to work from the assumption they were manipulative and just saying whatever to trick Carol.

Honestly though if that's the case I think the show is less interesting. Its just another alien invasion story, which are kinda low key racist

Edit: I just realized I forgot the word "THINK" in the title. My bad.

Even if they manage to reverse it, it would be over.

The longer "us" uses humanity, the worse it gets if you think about it. Supply chains are over, food production is already low enough that "us" expects millions to starve, the food that it's used it's not something a human would consistently take if they were an individual. Many world leaders seem to be gone, and humans have been shuffled around the world.

If this thing is reversed a new chaos would start, no one would be at their point of origin, there wouldn't supplies for everyone and the whole system that manage to glue civilization wouldn't even be there at the start. I don't see how any country could regain itself, anarchy would be the norm for a lot of time without mentioning the famine that would follow and as I said before the longer "us" is there, the worse is gonna get.

So in the end, the known world of before, it's pretty much over, and although humanity would survive in its individualistic form, more millions would still die in its transition from being "us" and the world would not be the same anymore.

I still think is the moral thing to do, but on paper if this is the ending the show wants to get, it should be bittersweet.

What happens to the individual when they get plurbed?

Are they still inside just in a deep sleep/hibernating? Or do you think they're aware and watching through their own eyes of whats going on but have no control of their body? Any theories here?

Why doesn't Carol just ask them to shorten the message?

On episode 5. She's clearly getting sick of Howard Hamelin's recording (so am I tbh.) She's can ask for anything, why not "please make a shorter answering machine message"?

Balancing on a knife edge

This show has to stay perfectly balanced between the hive being good and being bad. If we learn that the hive is evil, then it becomes like Invasion of the Body Snatchers or any number of other sci-fi tropes where the goal is to destroy the aliens and then the show's over because we've seen all that before. If the hive looks exactly like what they say it is, people who join are still there but now expanded by the thoughts of everyone else and they experience bliss, well then it would be hard to see why Carol didn't go for it, she is literally the loneliest person in the world at this point and they have exactly the cure for that. At that point it's virtually impossible to keep going - if Carol joins, the show's over, and if she becomes unjoined then either she wants to get back to being joined, which is the second scenario, or she knows what's wrong with it, which is the first scenario. Which is why they don't even have her ask whether there's a way for her to try it out.
So they have to stay balanced in between where you think the hive might be the real deal but they keep doing things that make you question that, but then redeem themselves.

Zosia is Violet in True Blood

I'm rewatching True Blood for the first time since it originally aired, and I'm honestly having so much fun catching things I completely missed back then.

One of them was realizing that Karolina Wydra (Zosia) is Violet! 🤯

Feels Like I’m Missing Something Here

I’m on ep.5 & struggling through each episode. I feel this is at best, an okay sci-fi show. Feel like I’m missing something. Everyone just raves about it. I totally get Carol’s motivation (I’d be pissed too if these things killed my wife), but she’s just not a likable character.

Prediction: Carol and/or Manousos will use the bomb to blow up the antenna the plurbs are building

Cant put a bomb on the table in the first act without having it go off by the end, right? This is a famous trope in drama called Vince's Gun.

Zosia is dangerously hot 🔥 No wonder Carol falls so hard for her

Can we talk about how insanely attractive Zosia is? This woman is on another level. 😮‍💨
No wonder Carol can’t resist the chemistry, the pull, the way Zosia just gets her… it all makes perfect sense. That’s exactly why Carol falls for her so deeply. And I’m here for the fact that in Season 2 she’s able to seduce her again.
What do you guys think?

Here’s a reminder and an opportunity to see the show that inspired Plur1bis. The Prisoner.

The Prisoner aired in 1967 and was the most indescribable tv show that ever made it to the small screen. The vision of creator and actor Patrick McGoohan, the first limited series of only 17 episodes is currently airing on the Criterion channel. So while we are waiting for season 2, please do yourself a favor and tune in to this landmark show that not only predicted our future but inspired Twin Peaks and Lost.

Both Fallout and One Piece took a long time between first and second seasons

Both were good and well received but there was nothing like the hype of their respective first seasons. I don't remember a mention of them after the first few days. Looks like there will be an even longer wait for the second season of Pluribus. Do you think the second season of Pluribus will be largely ignored like they were?

How much brainpower does it take for the hivemind to work?

Does it work for infants? People with brain damage? Old people with Alzheimer's?

What if you have multiple personalities? Would all of them be part of the hive or only one?

I think Carol and Zozia relationship is kinda similar to Nikki and Bear from Obsession

I see Zozia in the same place as Nikki. The difference is just how they ended up in that situation.
