Loki and his function

Trailer is out, people theorising. What I don't understand is how Loki could be anywhere other than the throne holding all realities together. Wasn't it established in season 2 that for the realities to run wild and un-pruned, it was necessary for Loki to stand in and hold them, otherwise they die? Wasn't the whole point of the tv show that Loki can only shoulder this burden because he realised it was his true purpose? Is Loki in the trailer a different Loki variant that comes in to serve a tva under the ygdrassil state? That seems the most likely to me.

On the same note, i don't understand the common theory about doom stealing Loki's powers. Does that equal doom causing the massacre of all universes just to preserve one latveria on one planet earth in a bubble, since, again, without Loki holding up everything nothing would survive. Unless doom conveniently replaces Loki's function with a loom-type device, I guess why not, but it all seems so farfetched and yeah I know I'm talking about fantasy but still.

Any thoughts and theories welcome

Considering getting the game on switch 2. Read it's crossplay. Will I find randos to play with in Europe? How is the player base? Thanks in advance
