Thinking about getting into finesse fishing, but not sure if I actually need a new setup

Hey guys, I’ve been trying to get more into finesse fishing lately.

I mostly fish with a M casting setup right now, but the lakes around me have been getting tougher, and I keep hearing people say I should slow down and throw smaller stuff.

The problem is every time I look into finesse fishing, I end up falling into a gear rabbit hole 😂

Do I actually need a lighter rod, lighter reel, lighter handle, or can I just use what I have and learn the technique first?

For those who fish finesse a lot, what’s the one thing that actually made a difference for you?

Is my bass setup really that bad for flounder?

I’ve got a Nasci 2500 on a 7’1” M/F Bass X.
I mentioned using it for flounder and my buddy immediately told me I’m gonna regret it lol. But honestly… I don’t really see why it wouldn’t work?
Am I missing something, or is this setup actually fine?
Also, what would you guys throw first, Gulp, bucktails, live bait, something else?

Anyone here actually using sea urchin baits?

Been seeing sea urchin baits pop up a lot lately and it got me curious. Have any of you actually fished with them?
What kind of fishing are they best for, and what are you usually targeting with them? Are they really that effective, or is it just one of those things that looks cool and gets hyped online?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s actually tried them.

TPE or silicone for a flat knob?

Looking at a couple flat knob options for a swimbait setup and noticed some are TPE while DRT’s newer ones are silicone.

Never really thought much about the material before.

Does it actually make a noticeable difference when fishing?

I’m pretty new to swimbait fishing, so any advice would be appreciated.
