Weekend smokes

Got to enjoy a couple of smokes this weekend, which is a rare indulgence for me.

The Le bijou has had around 2.5 years of time aging and it was definitely worth it. I’m very glad to have the rest of the box to enjoy and another vitola with same age. The chocolate and coffee flavours seemed to lift and balance the spice a bit more with the age and the second third was much sweeter than usual. The retro was still quite spicy though.

The Fonseca was average. Not bad for any reason but just a bit boring. Very earthy and one dimensional for flavour. The flavour was the same the whole way, which wouldn’t be bad if it had a little more to it. The construction was flawless though. Luckily I paired this with a new whisky I picked up that was delicious and made the time well spent (Elijah Craig 15 year single barrel).

Something for special occasions…

Can’t wait to try one of these.

Does anyone else have those sticks in the collection just for special occasions?

Sunday sunset

Plasencia Alma Del Cielo. Great stick, this was thoroughly enjoyable and definitely a box worthy smoke. Creamy first third with a little earthy flavour in there. Getting towards second third there is a honey sweetness that builds and the creaminess turns into nougat (I couldn’t place this flavour until I saw someone else had mentioned it). Final third has much more fullness to it.

Beautiful construction and great burn. The draw is about as perfect as I have ever had for me personally. Very happy I grabbed two of these so I have another in the humidor already.

Disappointed that it’s over…

But very fortunate to have a few more in the humidor.

Was one of the most enjoyable smokes I have had in recent memory. Was definitely a bit stronger than regular rare pink but not as much as I was expecting. The nicotine was noticeably stronger but probably due to larger vitola than rare pinks I have tried.

Has a lovely amount of spice that builds throughout with dark chocolate, earthy and leather notes, very much what you expect from a medium-full body Fuente blend. The best part was the retro which was surprisingly smooth and had an amazing sweetness that I didn’t notice at all on the regular draw.

Prensado….

This was a pretty good stick honestly, but the draw was a little loose to be perfect for me. I don’t know if I can see cigar of the year in this blend but maybe it was a decade ago. Definitely enjoyable though and would buy again (currently deciding if I should grab another single for the humidor or wait for a box).

Today was a good day…

Have been eagerly awaiting these. Will give them a few weeks in the humidor before trying one if I can wait that long.

Nice way to end the weekend

I had heard mixed feedback on this one so was curious to see for myself. I enjoyed it thoroughly and have already gone and ordered a box. Paired with some Michters 10 year old bourbon and was definitely a good way to spend an hour to finish the weekend

Surprisingly Decent

This was how I finished my weekend. I have been disappointed by this brand a couple of times recently but this one was a bit of redemption for RP with me. It built up really well throughout, burnt dead even the whole way and paired beautifully with the Balvenie double wood 17 (which may have helped with how much I enjoyed this to be fair)

Just wondering if anyone has any images or feedback on the two genuine options for something to protect my Le Grand lighter, 160023C or 180023C.

Would also love to see some images of these with lighters in them as there isn't many i could find when searching.
