I’m looking for writings or interviews from DFW about his time living in Urbana, Illinois. I frequent a park with tennis courts he used to play at and always think about Eschaton when I do and I drive by the elementary and high schools he went to all the time. I’d love to know more about specific places he went etc.
At ATL airport, we’re already halfway through what has become an hour-long preboarding process because roughly 16 people requested assistance. Earlier, more than half of them were walking around, going to McDonald’s, standing, stretching and moving around just fine.
The moment boarding was announced, however, they suddenly needed assistance, and several family members with tons of carry ons accompanied them through preboarding as well. In total, there were maybe a handful who genuinely appeared to need help. The other people who went through preboarding seemed to be taking advantage of a service intended for passengers who truly require it. The luggage bins don’t lie too. I noticed nobody sitting in C+ yet all the bins were full.
There used to be more live music in this area than could be seen. Now the scene seems dead. I hear this is happening across Midwest college towns generally. What’s going on?
