First car advice needed – BMW 320 or something more reliable?
Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask for your opinion about buying my first car. How do you actually choose one?
Unfortunately, my dad doesn’t really know much about cars, and I live separately from him. I got my driver’s license about two months ago.
Ever since I was a kid, my dream has been to drive a nice BMW, just like a lot of other guys. I’m 20 years old, living in Germany, and I earn around €2,200 net per month.
The problem is that everyone around me keeps telling me that cars are expensive, that I should save my money instead, that I don’t really need one, and so on. At this point, I have so many mixed thoughts that I don’t know what to do.
I’ve been looking at BMW 320 models for around €7,000–8,000. I think they look great, but a lot of people say they’re unreliable and that I’ll end up spending a lot of money on repairs. On the other hand, some people tell me it’s definitely possible to find one that’s in good technical condition and still looks great.
I’ve loved cars since I was a kid, and my dad taught me how to drive when I was 15. But I’m honestly nervous about making such a big purchase. I’ve never spent several thousand euros on anything before.
Could you recommend some car models that would be worth considering? I’m open to BMW, but I’d also like to hear about other reliable options.
I’d also appreciate any advice on how to inspect a used car before buying it. Is it worth hiring a mechanic to come with me and check the car, or is there another approach you’d recommend?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
