Im back here on holidays and I know nobody, Im kinda new here.
Im back from university for summer break, and I know nobody here. Have shifted here not long back, so no friends as well. What can one do here? Pls suggest and give some ideas. Thanks!
Hey everyone. University student here, based in the NCR region, trying to finally stop being a spectator and actually get on a mic.
I've been consuming a lot of standup lately and have been quietly working on some material, nothing polished, just ideas I want to test out loud. Looking for people in a similar spot, pre open mic, figuring it out, maybe a little nervous about it.
I have always been passionate about comedy, tried a few things here and there but nothing huge. I believe I can do amazing if I give it a try, and would love to meet people who think similar, maybe we could collaborate or create something cool together. Every great thing starts small, I am confident in my ability, and would love for you to be a part of it.
Would be great to:
1] find someone to attend open mics together [less awkward than going alone the first time]
2] Maybe do a casual material run through
3] Just talk to people who are into the craft, what's working, what bombed, etc.
Not looking to perform really early also. Just trying to take the first step without overthinking much honestly.
If you're in NCR or even just want to talk comedy, drop a comment or DM.
Living alone, managing own finances. Doing all education on scholarships, have loans to repay. From a tier 1 uni, with prior tier 2 m&a exp., batch ranker 1, publications, extracurriculars done it all.
Struggling to find the right opportunities given most of time goes in managing rest of the life. Health issues in family, financial problems as well.
Kindly guide forward.
1] do keep a check on your mental health. burnout is real. you will at times feel the person next to you is doing x number of things better than you, but remember all of us have our own paths, and you have your own journey.
2] distance yourself from negative people, and from those you do not feel happy in your success. with time you will learn when to cut off people, but do not become a people pleaser for anyone, any friendship formed on that foundation is bound to fail tomorrow if not today.
3] talk to people, have fun, but dont get emotionally dependent on anybody. you should always be able to go and have a meal by yourself, go to events by yourself, and concerts. there will be times when your friends are busy, or even avoid you, but that should never stop you from going out and having fun. you have to be there for yourself at all times. learn how to love and care for yourself.
4] do not get into a relationship because everybody around you is getting into one. it ok to take your time. peer pressure is very real. smartest of smarts fall into it. do everything, but because you want to do it, not to impress some person.
5] above all, be kind to others. help in any capacity you can. what you do will come around in some way or the other, enjoy your time in campus without making it difficult for anyone around you. remember everybody is fighting their own battles in their mind, some people are just better at hiding it than others, so forgive and move on, have a big heart.
i wouldnt say make the best of your time because this time wont come back, but instead try your best to find satisfaction in the present. there will be plenty of fun post uni also, but this time is also a special chapter in your life. you might just happen to meet the person here you will spend the rest of your life with, or the friends you grow old with. be open to everything, and live your best.
