20 years with Edward Jones

I finally got around to transferring my Roth IRA from Edward Jones to Fidelity.

I've been maxing it out for 20 years and was my advisor's very first client.

When he called after I initiated the transfer, that made for an uncomfortable conversation.

I told him he was great, and I found value in having the account there when it was smaller, but the fees didn't justify it with the size of account I have now.

Estimated loss to fees over that time is somewhere between $50k and $70k.

Musk Trolley Problem

Every time you pull the lever a trolley squishes a bunch of people, which satisfies your megalomania and is great fun.

However, for every 100,000 people you squish, it becomes a little less fun.

Do you continue pulling the lever until all enjoyment has been exhausted and squishing people becomes work, or do you stop while it still holds its appeal so that you can enjoy the memory?

Paul Atreides trolley problem

You are the Kwisatz Haderach.

Do you commit to the Golden Path knowing it will cause unimaginable suffering, the deaths of billions, and the sterilization of entire worlds; or do you allow humanity to stagnate, be vulnerable to greater forces, and become extinct?
