New Friends

31 year old gay guy based in Galway here. Just looking to make more LGBTQ+ friends around Galway or anywhere else in Ireland really.

Most of my friends are straight and I realised I don’t actually know many people in the community outside the odd night out or online spaces. Into the usual stuff: music, gaming, films, random chats, coffees, nights out, whatever.

Not looking for dating or hookups, just genuine connections and decent people to talk to. Happy to swap socials if we get on. Feel free to DM me.

Fully Remote Jobs

I’m looking for a fully remote job in Ireland. Ideally IT Support, Level 1 Helpdesk, Online Customer Service Chat etc.

Can you recommend any companies and websites please and where to find them?

Thanks

I live in Galway and I’m starting to feel like the only way to have a social life here is centred around drinking.

I go to the gym regularly, so I’m not just sitting around doing nothing, but it’s a pretty solo thing. I’ve tried putting myself out there in other ways too. Joined a running club for a bit, went alone, and honestly it just felt like everyone already knew each other and stuck to their own groups. Also realised I’m not even that into running, so forcing it felt pointless.

I’ve tried Bumble BFF as well and it’s the same story every time. Chats start, maybe you meet once, then it just fades or people don’t follow through at all. Nights out aren’t much better. You meet people, have great chats, and then… nothing. No one actually keeps in touch.

I do drink, probably more than I should, and I’m actively trying to cut back. But that seems to cut off the main way people socialise here, which leaves me a bit stuck.

Right now it just feels like there’s nothing else to do, or at least nothing that actually leads to real friendships. I don’t mind making the effort, I just don’t know where to put it anymore.

Has anyone else been in this situation in Galway (or similar) and actually found something that worked? Not just “join a club” but something where people are actually open to meeting new people and it doesn’t feel like you’re forcing your way into pre made groups.
