Honestly I thought it was a great dev live but it's kind of a shame that there's been no advertising for a brand new season.

Like remember when they had that thing with Bunny as a talk show host when they were advertising the Season 3 update? Sure, I personally found it kind of cringy, but you know, at the same time it's better than nothing. Also, not to mention, they had a trailer during the Summer Games Fest, I think?

Also, not to doompost, but I do find it a little bit humorous that on an older dev live, the producer said he wanted a concurrent peak of 30k players on Steam, and uhh, idk if that's happening without advertising lol.

But my bets are we get a peak of about 13k, but then as usual we get into top 30 of best-selling because that's what we do lmao.

Honestly, I'm probably buying the skins for Ines and Valby, then maybe Raven. Idk, my issue isn't the design itself (I'll probably color the thong black so it makes sense with the leotard up front) but that the fabric on the sides looks stiff as hell.

Haven't played in months but was still given the skin so you know what I had to do with it

You're welcome.

What are your thoughts on cell-shaded skins?

Yeah, ngl, I don't like them.

For me personally, compared to regular skins, they always just look flat to me, and they seem to lack a lot of detail compared to regular skins.

And while they have improved a lot since then, especially with the HSR skins (I was tempted with Kafka but decided not to since she had stiff jacket/cape physics), I still have yet to buy a cell-shaded skin ever (not counting Miku, but tbh I would've rather they used the normal 3D model from the Ievan Polkka or PoPiPo music videos if you know what I'm talking about).

Finally, since I've played a decent amount of gacha games, I have gotten kind of spoiled with them, and now my standards are high because of it. Like, even Genshin Impact, which is now considered to be more on the dated side, still has significantly better model quality than a majority of the cell-shaded skins in Fortnite, and don't even get me started on newer gachas like Arknights Endfield. It's really no comparison, so it's hard to be impressed by a cell-shaded Fortnite skin.

But still, though, shout out to that Erisa skin since she was one of the first skins I used because C3S2 was when I started seriously playing (since they added no builds), so she still has a special place in my heart.

Hero berserker is clutch ngl

Also again people should long press on their spells to see how much damage they do to crown towers!

What are your thoughts on Mizuki?

Ngl, after you take off that horrible mask, she's easily my favorite tier 100 skin in all the seasons I've played (C3S2-Now). I think really the only one that comes close is Morgan Myst, but even then, Lightrider was my favorite skin for that season.

But I mean she just has a clean design, blue is my favorite color and I think she arguably has one of, if not, the best looking face in the game and, honestly, I'm shocked that she has still yet to get a remix.

In terms of what I don't like, I've always hated the fact that in her idle animation (which is great btw), if you're using the lava style, she's still holding that blue fan which does not match at all! It's why I refuse to run any extra styles on her besides her base one.

And admittedly, she really doesn't have much in terms of cake, but I can't really hold it against her because she was made during the time when every skin was skinny as hell lol

Edit: One comment made a goated point her dance emote is a fucking banger as well

With the summer Ivy skin gone from the shop what version of her did you prefer between the summer version and her base version? or is this a "holy shit 2 cakes!" situation?

For me personally, while I get that the face and hair models are better in the new summer skin, it's not like I ever thought that the old face model/hair was bad (definitely not the face model).

I've also seen people say that the new Ivy is "nerfed" compared to the old one, but looking at them side by side, no, not really, they're the same size, just one has better definition because, obviously, a skin-tight bodysuit shapes contours better than a loose bikini bottom (and the heels give her a better arch).

But I think the main thing for me is that, in any game, bikini skins will always be seasonal for me, so I'd only wear them during the summer, while OG Ivy I can wear anytime. So I think, for that reason plus the definition, I personally still prefer the OG Ivy skin, but I can definitely see why someone would prefer the summer version.

Extra note I will say Fortnite.gg's video of the OG doesn't really look that great but trust me she's less shinier and plastic looking in-game.

What are your thoughts on Lady Waveflow?

Recently I made a post talking about which skins you are surprised don't have a big following. And she was the most upvoted one and I gotta say op has a point.

I mean great face, clean outfit, decently caked and has that elemental-being aesthetic going for her. Though I honestly don't really care about the reactivity, if I were to have this skin I'd definitely have the reactivity off.

But yeah, I guess the reason why this skin isn't too popular is that some people are not big on the elemental look, and then she kinda got overshadowed by the overwatch skins releasing a week later.

For me, she's one of those skins where she's good but not good enough to buy (especially with my standards getting higher with the banger skins they've been releasing), but hypothetically, if it was a free skin I'd definitely use it.

Is there any Crew Pack skin you wish to have?

You know, for the longest time I always did want Galaxia because the way they textured the galaxy effect on her is different compared to other galaxy skins, and I like it. Also, Mecha Cuddle Master deserves an honorable mention.

But to be honest, the new Bunnii O'Hare skin is so fucking good that I don't really care for these old crew pack skins anymore, and I'm honestly content with just her. Idk, maybe it's because I played both games, but not only is she caked, she reminds me of a combination between Juno from Overwatch and Bunny from The First Descendant.

Also I still find it kind of interesting Epic has said that Crew Packs aren't exclusive but they also haven't really done anything to let people have old Crew Pack skins honestly I don't see why there can't be an exclusive shop only accessible if you're a Crew Pack member and then buy the Crew Pack skin with Vbucks.

Which real-money skin packs do you regret missing out on?

Well, I guess "missing out" would be too strong of a term since they have been bringing old starter skins back, but I guess it's just more unlikely to come back than anything else.

The first one for me has to be the Fallen Light Pack (D'ark). I mean who doesn't like Ark's face? And let's be so fr, the leggings go crazy. Now you know what doesn't go crazy? the fact that a 4 dollar skin pack is selling on those key sites for over a hundred dollars! Fuck, that I ain't spending that much!

The second one would be the Derby Dynamo Quest Pack. I mean, I love the roller skates aesthetic with the tactical with her having the bullet shells and everything, not to mention her built-in emote is a banger.

The third one is the Wilde Pack, another starter pack where the skin is quite clean with the fur jacket and multi-colored shorts (I feel like there's a term for it, but I don't remember)

What are your thoughts on Versa?

I know I recently had a post talking about Takara and that, despite the fact she has cake, she does not have much of a following at all and the same can be kind of said for Versa (but she's definitely more popular than Takara).

Honestly, I kind of vibe with the more cyberpunk(I think?) look with the bodysuit and visor and I think the see-through jacket is sweet, but I can definitely understand the one reason people don't like it: it's the hair.

Yeah, I can't even deny those bangs look AWFUL, but you know to me, you look at your Fortnite skin from the back 95% of the time, besides being in the lobby, and her skin is definitely a 9/10 outside from the hair so I still think it's a good skin overall.

u/Mcstabler — 27 days ago

Might as well do an appreciation post on Takara as well. What are your thoughts?

Like I've said in a previous post, this is a skin that I'm surprised doesn't have a decent following even with gooners, despite the fact that she does have cake.

And you know, beyond that, I think the skin is pretty clean imo (also, the model quality is pretty good for a chapter 1 skin). Great color scheme, with the white bodysuit and spiky black and red jacket (more of a punk aesthetic, I think?) also being Japan-themed; you'd think she'd get more of a following.

I guess it could be because of the face makeup, which is fair, but I think I've seen some edits of her without the makeup, but I think it looks worse imo.

Also, I'll admit if there's one thing I strongly dislike with the skin, it's the fact that her jacket is open from the back, so I use a backbling to cover it.

What’s a Fortnite skin you’re surprised doesn’t have a bigger following?

I'm gonna go on a slightly degenerate tangent, so I apologize in advance, but from what I've seen, skins that are on the caked side usually have a pretty decent following for both collabs and OC, like Chun Li, Poison Ivy (even before the bikini skin), Spice, Penny, and RTL, and hell, even the new crew pack all have pretty decent followings for various reasons.

But then there's Takara; despite having those qualities, she never gets mentioned at all, and you know it's like, I don't think her design is that bad; it's pretty clean imo, with the white bodysuit and spiky jacket also being Japan-themed (so you'd think it'd be glazed, lol). Maybe it's the face makeup (idk, I like it)?

Also, maybe during that time when it didn't appear in the shop for like almost a thousand days, it killed its momentum in getting a following? But yeah, I never see this skin get mentioned besides that one account on Twitter lol, despite having qualities that skins with bigger followings have.

Also, an honorable mention to Slurpentine; my best friend used to play her a lot, and I always did find her design clean, but I never really see her talked about anywhere.

Surprised nothing was said about this but in the skin voting MoonVeil has moved up to second place! Remember for this one it's only the top 2 that are being turned into skins!

Honestly I'm completely fine with this while I'm not too big on MoonVeil itself I just didn't like Angelic Order at all.

I can see why people liked it but I just hated the bottom and I don't think the TFD devs would do the hair physics justice

u/Mcstabler — 1 month ago

TFD has went up #31 in top sellers in the US and #36 Globally they also went up to a peak player count of 7,100

You know now that I'm looking at these charts again one thing that I do find interesting is that in terms of maintaining players this season has done a lot better you know you look at Dia's season and the player count dropped 50% after 2 weeks and never really recovered while the peaks in this season are more consistent especially considering the fact we're going to get another patch in just 2 weeks.

But yeah I'm not surprised at this point this game may have a niche player count but they spend and I mean having stuff like official merchandise has to mean that they're doing quite well.

Still though I'm just waiting for Season 4 though that shit looks awesome

Edit: I just remembered they're also rerunning the old bikini skins in a week as well so that's probably even more money for them! I know damn well I'm getting Valby's

Edit 2: Apparently it went as high as #19 gawdamn

u/Mcstabler — 2 months ago

All of the summer skin teasers combined into one; which one(s) will you be buying?

For me, I think it's simply Harris and Bunny. I know that Bunny's is controversial because, admittedly, it looks more like loungewear (unless it's a bikini style that I'm not aware of), but honestly, I fuck with it, and that's what matters most.

I was also thinking about getting Sharen's, but I'm still salty about her rework, so I may pass on it. Also, I'm definitely getting the spawn animation as well.

Edit: After getting a closer look at them I don't like the material on Bunny's bottoms so actually I did Harris and Viessa because I didn't realize how visible Viessa's asscrack was (not to mention her hair is a banger) and actually Viessa has basically became my endgame main after her rework (glacial cloud is awesome) so why not? And I have 750 left over for the next patch perfect.
