I hope a little dumb posts like mine are allowed on this sub. Really loved the show. Only criticism I have is for a show about chess, there isn’t a lot of chess shown in the show😂. Pure chess would be borring —- agreed. But they show like 4-5 moves each game, which aren’t nearly enough to get the viewers interested in keeping track of the games.
This has been my biggest dilemma since my first game. A thousand hours later, and I still have no idea. How valuable is a chop really ? For example: It’s early game. If I want to place down a +3 holy site, but that would kill a forest. Is that worth buying a builder to chop or should I get a monument? Same for middle game: Does waiting for magnus outweigh normal chops ? Would love to hear y’all’s thoughts on this one.
I was first a bit hesitant about the game (I mean, it’s been 16 years at this point!) , but the player count convinced me. Anyway, I’m just about to be starting my first game, what civ should I pick? And what are thingsI should expect to be different? Thanks!
(Emperor difficulty) Should have accepted him. I reallly crammed the AI in this game, so they didnt have much room to expand. at turn 120 I had 22 cities, which was more than everyon else combined.
How has this not been fixed.
I’ve recently started getting into 19800- 1900s novels like Botchan, which is my favorite. Even though learning isn’t my goal, I’m really wondering whether I’d be able to use some of those old-fashioned way of writing in my daily life. One thing I’m already doing is noting down vocabulary.
So I have learned a lot over the years of playing civ6 and I definitely make use of these units a lot more than when I first started out. A question I have is when do you want to really pump out builders? I usually do it at feudalism, and I’d have made 3-4 of them before that to get tiles improved, which makes sense, but then I never plug the card out… ever. For settlers, I make like 5-6 usually before the turn 150 though I never stop settling cities, usually have at least 12 cities on a small map before stopping. Is this a good way to do things ?
I’ve recently started looking closer though and see that some phrases are almost entirely always treated as plural “My pouring skills are terrible”, which doesn’t make any sense to me. Are there multiple skills involved in pouring something, or is it just a pattern with gerund nouns?
I used to be one of those people who would finish the game in one sitting, and sometimes I’d do multiple games of civ a day, which was really sucking up my time. Then grade 12 rolls around and now I have only like 30min a day to play… would that still enough for it to be fun? I’m sure there are adults in this sub that also don’t really have time to play as well.

I’m quite new to gathering storm, only been playing for like 3 days, but I had played on standard rules for 2 years before switching.
What I notice is that faith is just op. I can beat the deity ai pretty effortlessly if I pick any faith-focused civ, but if I don’t, my snowballs slow down a lot, even on lower difficulty like prince or king. I’ve tried a few different methods to snowball early game. Early war, industrial zones planning, and getting as much as possible out of my adjacency. But none of them has ever outperformed faith. The difference is clear. If I go with a faith game, I’ll win somewhere around 200-220 turns. If I dare do something else, it becomes 260-280. So what do you think I can do to become less reliant on faith?
I think it’s about time I cave in. I was against gathering storm because there seems to be a lot of mechanics introduced and I thought learning them would going to be a grudging experience but after replaying every civ like 4 times at this point, I’m not caving in. What are some things I should know/prioritize I’d say I’m pretty decent as I’ve beat deity before
