How to achieve fluffy lume?

How to achieve fluffy lume?

I’m getting more and more fascinated about creating vintage like watches. One of my recent builds was ESPA super compressor watch which in my opinion, turn out pretty good. Now I’m trying reproduce this fluffy “old tritium“ loom on the indices as well as on the hands. Normally, I’m working with C3 powder and I think the color is not the problem. Usually, I am using watercolors to get the desired tone. The problem more is about to find the right mixture or a binder, which can be applied on one sick layer, but will not leave the gloss effect after it dries out.

I don’t like to use the binder from the luminous kits as it starts to develop threads quite quickly once it’s exposed to the fresh air, so it is very hard to operate with. I’ve also tries to use a matte varnish, but the side effect of this mixture is once drying out it starts to shrink and will be applied quite uneven. The UV glue does not provide this “dried-out” effect.

I’m adding the picture for the reference

Super Compressor custom vintage build

The build journey which took me three months to complete is now over and I am very satisfied with the result. Now I am happy to share the result with you.

The Case set is a real treasure - designed for Miyota 8200 series and everything else was built around it. As I saw that one I thought immediately I want to build something inspired by the vintage super compressor watches like legendary Droz or Withauer. The hands were taken from NH 35 and adopted to Miyota, except seconds hand.

Looking forward to get any feedback.

My recent build

What would you change? The dial is custom made, painted and lumed.

Custom pad printing dial

Do you have any sources who can make a custom pad printed dial? Find the dials from seikonda custom or odokadolo are very cool but looks like they are using other technique.

I build my first super compressor

I discovered my passion to build unique watches - putting parts together, modifying them, aging etc. recently I built this watch because I wanted something special, outstanding. I could find a vintage dial, which fit the case perfectly. Everything else was added trying things out in different combinations.

Are there any fans of vintage French styled skin diver and super compressor watches?

Any good watch parts source?

Hi! I am looking for a good source for watch parts like dials, watch hands, etc. suitable for miyota 8200er or DG movements. All sources that I know, like namokimods, DLW watches or alixexpress have a very limited catalog of parts.

Especially I am looking for vintage watch parts, like hands in the images below.
