Would anyone mind looking at this list and telling me off the top of their heads if they think these parts will fit together? I already have a movement that I'm pretty sure the hands will fit on. I plan to design and 3d print the cage/dial holder for the movement. Thanks in advance.
I've never modded a watch this is my first lol
I'm interested in buying parts for creating my own version of Vontra Seigaiha Aventus and am trying to find this case in Ebay UK or Aliexpress. Can someone help me find this please? Help me out, guys. Cheers.
Feelin a little nostalgic today, so here’s a few of my faves!
Look Ma, its Batman!😱
For this one, I wanted a simpler BATMAN! feel. A little more abstract and less in your face.
The subdial gets a geometric low-poly Batman inspired decal with little hits of cyan, yellow and white.
The decal is sealed under UV resin, so it does catch and reflect light at certain angles in photos. Under normal lighting it’s way less apparent and looks natural as the resin gives the decal a subtle 3D effect, magnified and extra depth.
The filter is all about that Gotham atmosphere, a cooler teal tones up top with dark blending fading into a warm yellow/champagne gold ember across the main display, representing the glow of the Bat Signal cutting through the night.
I kept the main time area fairly clean so the black LCD digits still punch through nicely.
Black case, black strap, dark faceplate & then just enough colour underneath to stop the whole thing from disappearing into stealth mode.
How do you think this one turned out?
Glitch Mod
First of all sorry for my bad english, not my first language.
I'm new to all of this and because of that i wanted to order a complete build
After waisting alot of time i found alix seller named SEAGIS that after long translate because he only understand chinese, the only one that had all the parts and he the only one that offerd me to order the parts from him and he will assemble the watch for me plus send me the tool for the case back screws.
After i got the watch i noticed that the chronograph hands arent centerd to 12 oclock when i reset the chronograph, the hour and minute hands also aren't centerd but that was not that annoying, the sconds hand chronograph every reset got back to 5 sec before the 12 oclock mark and after 1 day when i press reset it goes back to random location, after 2 days the secods hand chronograph fell so it was loose, poor assembly from his "factory".
When i contact the seller he wanted to build another one to check and send me video,i don't think he did that because i didn't got one
After that and all the photos i sent him he only offerd me a new set of hands that i can isntall myself, the problem is that i don't have movement holder or hands removal tools, and i'm really don't want to try it myself for thr first time on that expensive build(sl4802 skeleton movement with forged carbon case)
After alot of messages i suggested that he will send me a new movement with dial and hand assembled together, and the tool for the case back because i don't have a way to open it,and i will replace the complete movement and send him the one i corrently got so i don't have to deal with removing the old hands and reinstall them. If i had the screw driver for the case back the movement was already on the way to him.
So my only options are return and refound, with the hassle of dealing also with tax refound (and end up without the watch and i can't find anyone else to build it) or get a new set of hands and look for local watch maker that wants to do it on my cost.
what would you do if you were in my shoes? ,i know alot of you can install chronograph hands easy but my only experience was to replace the case itself with complete NH movement with dial and hands and i don't want to damage something, when at first it was poor assembly.
Thanks for all the help 🙏
I'm considering a dial and movement swap.
What do we think?
I love the modern interpretation of the 62mas case with the steel bezel insert. I love orange dials. I want to combine them.
Couldn’t resist modifying my Shark Week Edition. Takes on a nice vintage look I think
Herewith a special project of one of my favourite watches out there ❤️
This one is made as a commission in India. By now I have my watches on every continent 🙏🏻
The first pic shows the painting already zoomed in. This gives you an impression how small it really is. Everyone who knows the small model of the Tank knows.
Challenging because of the small tiny details all over the Bison.I had to make sure to use the free space on the dial and have the right proportions secured.
This one of 2 commissions for the same person. The otherone will be shared soon, showing a land space 👌🏻
Let me here your thoughts on this 1 of 1 pieces outthere!
Here’s a Glitch Mod centred on a DBZ battle happening across the watch rather than just sticking a character on the dial.
Went with Goku firing a Kamehameha in the world-map section, with Frieza taking the blast in the subdial. The blue energy from both pieces ties them together and makes the whole top half feel like one battle scene. If you zoom in you will notice that the alarm window has a galaxy in it.
For the filter I went with a galactic mix of magenta, purple and electric blue. On the left and right sides of the main LCD, you can see the Kamehameha travelling across the filter, while the centre stays cleaner so the digits remain easy to read.
Finished it with the black AE1200 and a matte navy blue leather strap. The navy works nicely with all the magenta in the filter without taking attention away from it.
The colours really come alive outdoors.
Glitch Mod.
The wife wanted something two tone, I built this 36mm for her and going to build a matching 40mm for myself. The most difficult parts by far was applying the dial logo and the seconds hand! Still need to test & regulate it but I am pretty happy with how it turned out. The bug has bit me, I’ve already ordered parts to build 6 more (all different cases & styles).
My sister is set to leave for her first deployment this week, on a while I decided to assemble my first watch ever as a deployment gift.
It’s a basic NH35 build using AliExpress parts with a genuine TMI movement.
Prior to this build, I’d only ever changed a couple batteries in older quartz movements for my dad.
This is definitely a hobby I will be spending a lot of time on in the years to come.
Hey team, how are you?
I'm going to make my second mod, and I got the nickel sticker with my logo to put.
The idea is to put one in front of the dial (the mountain one) and the other is in rottor on the movement.
How do you usually put the sticker? I'm very concerned to put in the middle, like the exactly point.
I'm thinking to find the very middle, make a little line in the sticker to guide me.
Use two boxes a bit bigger, put the sticker kind of flying stucked with tapes, and them I can move the dial and see where is the best place.
Please give tips!
- My first was the Moonswatch case swap
- Second is a submariner build (bezel looks like a seamaster one)
- Third is a recent build with a VH31 movement
I have had this BP-based 1680 for many years and just recently found a great insert for it but cannot find anyone to do the switch. And that sort of work is definitely above my paygrade😂!
Any recs or ideas, I know it's not a huge job?
I’ve been building for a while and like most I’ve struggled to strike the right balance for custom dials. There’s a lot of amazing makers out there using lasers and CNC to build some incredible stuff, but it can be costly and most of them are quite busy so lead times can be a bit long. AliX has some custom dial makers but most of the options are just a logo and text on an existing dial, and the shipping times are also very long.
This is our first prototype with a full color UV printer. My buddy is an artist and this is his work, we wanted to see just how well it could handle gradients and color transitions. Next test will be text resolution to make sure we can do standard numerals, logos, and dial text. We have more to figure out but I’m really impressed with the first go at it. We do plan on offering it as a US based custom dial service at some point.
Two for me, one for wife. Butchered the hands on my first, will have to replace, but happy with the results anyways
I have seen far more impressive and eye catching builds on this subreddit, but this was my first and I wanted something a bit subdued that I can take to work and use more or less as a daily.
NH35 movement, and the rest is your classic AE basics, inspired by the Alpinist and the Presage Cocktail. All in all just around the £100 mark.
Happy to hear thoughts and comments, also any tips to make the next one look more like the works of art I see around here?
