Glitch Mod - Dark Knight: Gotham Skies Edition

Look Ma, its Batman!😱

For this one, I wanted a simpler BATMAN! feel. A little more abstract and less in your face.

The subdial gets a geometric low-poly Batman inspired decal with little hits of cyan, yellow and white.

The decal is sealed under UV resin, so it does catch and reflect light at certain angles in photos. Under normal lighting it’s way less apparent and looks natural as the resin gives the decal a subtle 3D effect, magnified and extra depth.

The filter is all about that Gotham atmosphere, a cooler teal tones up top with dark blending fading into a warm yellow/champagne gold ember across the main display, representing the glow of the Bat Signal cutting through the night.

I kept the main time area fairly clean so the black LCD digits still punch through nicely.

Black case, black strap, dark faceplate & then just enough colour underneath to stop the whole thing from disappearing into stealth mode.

How do you think this one turned out?

Glitch Mod: DBZ – Galactic Battle

Here’s a Glitch Mod centred on a DBZ battle happening across the watch rather than just sticking a character on the dial.

Went with Goku firing a Kamehameha in the world-map section, with Frieza taking the blast in the subdial. The blue energy from both pieces ties them together and makes the whole top half feel like one battle scene. If you zoom in you will notice that the alarm window has a galaxy in it.

For the filter I went with a galactic mix of magenta, purple and electric blue. On the left and right sides of the main LCD, you can see the Kamehameha travelling across the filter, while the centre stays cleaner so the digits remain easy to read.

Finished it with the black AE1200 and a matte navy blue leather strap. The navy works nicely with all the magenta in the filter without taking attention away from it.

The colours really come alive outdoors.

Glitch Mod - Web Matrix Revisited due to Nocturnal Time’s latest mod

About 21 days ago, I did my very own Spider-Man:Web Matrix mod, a silver AE1200 built around a red webbed LCD, navy blue strap and a low-poly Spider-Man decal.

So I had a bit of a surprise yesterday seeing Nocturnal Time drop a Spider-Man build with a pretty similar direction as mine.

1st & 2nd pics are my mod and 3rd & 4th pics are Nocturnal Time’s mod.

Same general idea - red webbed LCD filter but two very different executions.

His is darker and more cinematic especially the webbing construction and blue assents, while I went for a cleaner ruby and coral red filter with finer, lower-opacity webbing, so the web pattern appears to sit behind the LCD digits rather than on top of it. That helped keep the digits clean and legible.

I used a low-poly Spider-Man decal in the subdial with a navy sailcloth strap. He instead used a Spider-Man logo and Blue resin strap.

Now the important question… did Nocturnal Time get inspired by my build? 😂😂 I’m kidding… unless? 👀…. Lol I doubt it… but there is a saying “great minds think alike” 🤞.

Either way, pretty cool seeing a well known modder arrive at a similar concept. That’s half the fun of modding isn’t it, same watch, similar inspiration, completely different interpretation.

Might be time for Web Matrix V2.🤔

Glitch Mod: Son of Krypton Collection

Three builds, same theme, completely different feel.

Started with the Solar Edition: warm yellow and red tones with the low-poly Superman decal.

Then came the Kryptonite Edition: went full green with the crystal effect coming alive across the LCD, especially when the backlight is lit.

The latest is the Crimson Skies Edition: deeper crimson and red tones with Superman looking towards the earth from space, his cape forming the main theme. Definitely the darker and more dramatic of the three.

Same base idea, but I wanted each build to have its own character rather than just being a colour swap.

Solar️, Kryptonite 💚** or Crimson Skies 🔴 : which mod is yo**ur favourite.

Check out my previous post for more details. 😬

To the Bat cave🦇🦇🦇 😉

Glitch Mod — Son of Krypton: Crimson Skies

I had a sunray silver faceplate lying around and wondered what to do with it. Then i had an idea with a Tamiya Deep Metallic Blue can that i had. A few coats later and voila, the build started coming together.

For the decal, I went with Superman looking out towards earth from space, with the flowing red cape as the main theme. Simple, but it stands out nicely against the metallic blue.

I kept the filter simple ruby, crimson and coral red for a richer, more dramatic look. It shifts colour and has a glow as the light hits. When the backlight hits, the reds shift into this dusty burnt-orange/copper glow, which gives the watch a completely different character at night.

Finished it off in the silver case with a navy sailcloth strap. Between the silver case, Deep Metallic Blue, rich reds and the texture of the sailcloth, the whole build has ended up with this rugged dress watch look. A little refined, a little utilitarian, without losing that AE1200 character.

Sometimes the builds that start with “what the hell am I going to do with this spare part?” end up being the fun ones.

Oh yeah 6th pic was taken in car while i was in stand still traffic for over 10 minutes and yes the car was stationary and not moving (i was bored).

Glitch Mod - SKMEI Filter Test

Been playing around with some filters for the SKMEI, this time designed for the kids.

Kept both mods simple and fun.

The yellow one is based around the Playtime Co. logo, with the bright yellow and red giving it that playful toy-factory look.

The red one went the other direction with Spider Man style webbing, spreading across the display while still keeping the LCD digits clear.

These were mainly a test to see how brighter, more graphic filters would work on the SKMEI LCD. Pretty happy with how both turned out, and the kids definitely approve. 😄

Glitch Mod - Son of Krypton: Kryptonite Edition

A follow up to my Son of Krypton: Solar Edition (posted 2 days ago), but this time I wanted to take the build in the opposite direction and away from the sun and straight into Kryptonite.

The Superman low poly decal stays as the centrepiece of the subdial, while the filter is built around a deep Kryptonite green glass effect.

Several Kryptonite crystals were designed into the main time area with champagne gold lining along the crystal edges to give them that subtle spark as they catch the light.

Rather than having the crystals look like a graphic sitting across the display, i designed it to feel recessed inside the LCD, with different angles and depths creating that buried crystal effect while still keeping the digits clean and readable above them.

The part I like most is how the filter changes depending on the lighting. Under normal light, the Kryptonite sits deeper in the green glass and is fairly restrained.

Once the backlight kicks in, the recessed Kryptonite crystals light up from underneath. The champagne gold edges catch the illumination and the individual crystal formations suddenly becomes much more pronounced. Its almost like the Kryptonite is glowing from within the pocketed window.

Kept the rest of the build simple with the gold/bronze case, factory faceplate, gold adapters and navy sailcloth strap. The deep Kryptonite green against the bronze and navy gives this one a completely different character from the Solar Edition.

The Solar Edition was Superman drawing power from the sun.

This Kryptonite Edition is what happens when that power meets its weakness.

Glitch Mod — Son of Krypton: Solar Edition ☀️

For this Mod, the idea from the outset was to take the Superman theme in a more refined dress watch direction. A luxury timepiece with subtle references to the character rather than an overt comic book aesthetic.

The Superman references had to be there, but worked into the watch rather than dominating it.

For the subdial I was inspired by a low-poly Superman image. I reworked the silhouette, fragmented blues, reds and cyan to give it a slightly more modern look. At that size, the colours really come alive once the light hits it.

The Filter carries most of the Solar Edition concept. Superman’s red runs across the top, with the lower section transitioning into a warm solar glow. I added a solar flare into the glass as well, so you can actually see the flare beams/lines running through the LCD at different angles.

I was careful not to let the filter become too busy around the main display. The colours sit well on the LCD while the digits remain clean, sharp and easy to read.

I went with the gold/bronze ‘Casio Royale’ case and factory faceplate. Added gold strap adaptors and paired it with a navy sailcloth strap. The navy ties in nicely with the Superman decal while giving the gold and solar tones a bit of contrast.

Overall, I wanted the Superman theme to come through in layers for that luxury collectors vibe: the low-poly Superman, the cape red and the solar energy, while still looking like a dress watch first.

Would you wear this as a dress watch?

Next edition 🧪 coming up soon.

Glitch Mod - Master Chief V2.0– Spartan Protocol

After my M.C Battle Zone mod (posted several days ago), It was time for V2.0.

I wanted to take a different direction & focus on what Master Chief represents; precision and the iconic MJOLNIR armour.

The subdial decal is a lowpoly interpretation of Master Chief, with the iconic MJOLNIR armour taking centre stage. See if you could spot the ‘117’.

For the filter, rather than using a plain green tint, i designed it to resemble an illuminated visor glass, using layered emerald and olive tones to create depth without sacrificing LCD readability.

The world map sits behind the glass instead of competing with it, making the display feel more like a Spartan HUD than a standard digital watch.

An easter egg is subtly woven into the filter. As the light catches it from different angles, the hidden terrain slowly reveals itself, creating the illusion of depth while the LCD digits continue to float cleanly above the artwork. The backlight brings it alive.

The mod as you see it: Royale green case, factory faceplate and original NATO strap, completes the military inspired aesthetic. The goal was for it to be a piece of equipment pulled straight from the Halo universe.

Always keen to hear your thoughts.

🕸️ Glitch Mod – Spider•Man: Web Matrix

A Casio Royale mod to commemorate the release of the new Spiderman movie tomorrow.

For this one, I went with a luxury-inspired collector’s piece rather than a comic style mod. A Glitch Mod special.

The low-poly Spider-Man decal, with its rich reds and faceted finish, gives it that premium look without being over the top.

The filter is where this build really comes alive. It’s a crimson glass optic with Spider-Man webbing flowing across the LCD. IRL as the light shifts, the web catches the light while the digits stay crisp and clear where it sits on top of the web instead of being trapped beneath it.

In contrast World Map sits below the web, as if the web has spread across and conquered the world.

To finish it off, I paired everything with a 20mm Navy Sailcloth strap. I think it complements the silver case and deep crimson tones perfectly and really completes the luxury feel I was aiming for.

Hope you all like it.

My Collection of Watch Mods ( Before Glitch Mod)

This Modding journey started because I wanted to make a handmade birthday gift for my son’s 12th birthday. I came across modding Casio Royale on YouTube thanks to Nocturnal Time and Lukebuildwatches and several others.

Instead of buying him another watch, I thought it would mean more if I built one myself. That’s the first watch in this post, a personal gift that I hope he’ll still have years from now.

As I kept making more mods (the addiction was crazy lol 😂) I gradually found my own style and approach to designing them. That’s when Glitch Mod sparked not as a business but as a name for the style and identity I had naturally developed through all the experimenting. It was a good stress reliever from reality and to keep the creative juices flowing.

Looking back, these were the several mods that laid the foundation for everything that came later. They’re not as refined as my current Glitch Mod builds, but each one taught me something new about colour, composition, light reflections, Air Glass and Optical filters and what works at such a tiny scale.

Thought I’d share where the journey began.

Thanks for taking a look, and I’d love to hear which one is your favourite.

One of my first few Mods.

This was my 3rd Mod when i first started modding. I used to spray paint the faceplates and gel filter.

Then i discovered metal sunray faceplates.

Lo and behold I’ve come a long way from this and the journey has been good.

Glitch Mod - Master Chief “Battle Zone”

Finally wrapped this one up.

I've always thought the AE1200 had that rugged military look, so I leaned into it with a Master Chief theme instead of just slapping a Halo image on the watch.

I didn't want a plain green, yellow, ember or a dark filter.

Hence, I designed an Air Glass Filter looking through Master Chief's visor in the aftermath of a jungle firefight, smoke hanging in the air, dust kicked up by explosions, scorched terrain, burning embers and that subtle amber HUD glow cutting through it all.

It took a bunch of test prints to get the colours where I wanted them, but I think it finally captures that battle zone aftermath feel while keeping the LCD nice and clear.

In person it has a lot more depth than a normal coloured filter, especially as the light catches it from different angles.

Im happy with how it turned out. It feels like something that's seen a few battles rather than something that's fresh out of the armoury.

Vintage Strap Upgrade

Did a strap swap on my A168 camo mod.

The tan suede leather gives it a nice vintage feel while adding a bit of luxury.

It’s Amazing how much a simple strap change can transform a watch.

Glitch Mod - Emerald Horizon - A168 Camo

Finished my latest A168 mod.

I've been messing around with an Air Glass filter concept for a while and finally got it where I wanted.

The concept was to get the LCD digits to look like it's sitting on a piece of emerald glass ( when in fact the filter sits on the LCD) for maximum readability.

I worked in a subtle yellow horizon through the middle. Without it, the filter looked a bit flat and boring. The soft glow gives it a bit more depth and makes the whole watch feel a bit more alive.

One thing I didn't expect was the backlight. It now glows this nice teal colour through the filter instead of the usual blue, which gives the watch a completely different vibe at night.

What ya verdict? Yay or Nay

Glitch Mod - T-800 Vision ( In Motion)

Photos can't fully capture this build.

The filter changes as the watch catches light, making the LCD feel like it's part of a T-800 visual interface rather than just a display.

That was the challenge from the start as i mentioned in my previous post, keeping it clean, functional & let the illusion do the work.

Simplicity.

No clutter.

No gimmicks.

A Glitch Mod art piece.

What do you think? Keep this version or upgrade to a more realistic T-800 decal?

Glitch Mod - T-800 Vision

Some watch mods change the look.

I wanted to change the feeling.

Create a Glitch Mod Special.

You dont just look at this watch.

You look through it.

Every layer was designed to make it feel as though you’re seeing the world through a T-800’s eyes 👀.

Clean, functional and unmistakably machine… the LCD becomes the interface instead of just the display.

SYSTEM ONLINE

What do you think of the mod?

Im Thinking of changing the decal to a more realistic T-800… back to the lab… i’ll be back…

Built a Brazil 🇧🇷 World Cup Royale Mod

I've been experimenting with custom AE1200 builds and decided to create a Brazil World Cup themed mod.

The idea was to create something that captures the atmosphere of a night match under stadium lights.

Build details:
• Custom Brazil Champion Crest decal
• Custom Rio Stadium LCD filter
• Black AE1200 with factory faceplate
• Multiple design and print iterations to balance colour, contrast and LCD readability

The most challenging part was the LCD filter. What looked great on screen actually printed very differently, so it took several revisions before the colours and light effects looked right in person.

Everything was designed, printed and assembled by me.

Would love to hear what you think and any feedback from fellow AE1200 modders.
