Translation differences ch. 16 and episode 12

Hey, everyone! I got to watch episode 12 today and this line caught my attention. In the episode, the shaman says that five bandits *were sent* after Yuru, but I remembered that in the manga he said that he himself had sent the assassins. I thought it was an interesting detail that changed the meaning of the whole exchange. Saying that some assassins were sent ommits who the sender was. It could have been some other faction or the Higashi village extremists. It takes responsibility away from the shaman. But in the manga it's clear as day that he was the one in charge and he's completely fine with killing Yuru to acquire Seal.

I wanted to know what anime onlies understood from this dialogue, because to me, it seemed like the shaman was pointing out that "someone" sent assassins after Yuru, not necessarily him, to emphasize how strong he is. Although now that I'm writing this out, I notice that the only way he could've known is if he'd been involved in it since Yuru never told anyone about the assassins lmao but still, I think the manga made it clearer that the shaman and the villagers were in kahoots to kill Yuru, as opposed to Dera who's protecting him, even if he's involved with the village. I wonder what the original line in Japanese was.

What are your thoughts?

Edit: of course, the anime may be more accurate than the manga. I'm not trying to imply the manga translation holds the absolute truth since there might be differences to the original as well lol

What would you like Yuru to see/experience from the Modern World?

(minor spoiler) >!get this man to Disneyland with Asa!!!< also to an aquarium. I don't recall Dera taking him to one in episode 9. I can see him trying to catch some of the fish

If my calculations are correct, next episode...

we're getting Ken's introduction, we'll see Hana again (finally), Midori's (the tanuki) ultimate attack will be revealed, Asuma and his uncle, Shingo, will meet and hopefully the episode ends with Ivan being fucking cool as always

I cannot wait !!

Edit: My personal favourite joke should appear next episode, that is when Yuru and Dera go back home and Hana meets Ken and accuses Dera of screwing around, having a secret love child (incorrect) and gambling (correct)

Character Appearance Episode 10

Do you think we'll get to see >!Ken's!< first appearance tomorrow?? I really hope so 🙏🏼 the whole gag when they get back home to Hana is hilarious, although I think that the reveal that >!Ken is Long Arms and Long Legs master!< and that he is >!a Tadera!< is the perfect cliffhanger. I cannot wait for Dera's >!deadbeat father!< allegations lmao

Omniscient POV manga

Hey there! Lately I've noticed that most of the shoujo manga I've read is told from the main character's POV, or from a first-person POV if it's from the perspective of many characters. I wanted to read a manga where there's an omniscient narrator who knows everything about the characters. Even better if there is an ominous vibe, like they know stuff that will happen later and there's no way to avoid it. I can only think of books or movies having this type of writing. Maybe I've read some manga like this or there are many obvious examples but honestly I can't think of any right now.

One very clear example I know of is the webtoon After School Lessons for Unripe Apples. In this story there's like a higher force narrating the events (presumably). We get to see the characters' thoughts, of course, but the narrator is aware of things that the characters don't even know/realize, so it makes reading the story really fun. Also if you've read this author's other stories, you probably know she has a way of writing a story where she constantly goes back and forth, so it's almost as she was playing with the readers. Soonkki is a menace lol

There's also the book and the recently adapted TV series "La Casa de los Espiritus" (the House of the Spirits) by Isabel Allende, where one of the main characters, Alba, tells part of the story of her family from a third person POV, as she has access to her late grandmother's diary and she's retelling it. So we are aware of things that will happen later in the story as she knows how things went down in her family.

I hope I was clear with my request. Thank you in advance!!

Here are some examples of After School Lessons from Unripe Apples:

Who would win in a fight? Izumi and Sig Curtis or Right and Left

(I'm bored, don't take it too seriously folks)

EDIT: Could Izumi use their alchemy on them? They've said several times that they are made of stone, so she could technically inflict damage on them. If they take that yellow form that's another story tho

EDIT 2 : the REAL question is if the four of them would win against Torty and Bunbun, but the answer is clearly no /j

Divine Possession

I just wanted to write down some thoughts I had.

So through Divine Possession, its user is granted a portion of the twins' power. We've seen Yamaha and her sister using Seal, so it's logical to think there must be people who can use a portion of Break, right? But we haven't seen anyone with that ability yet. Do you think someone who can use a bit of Break will appear? I think it's highly possible.

And there's something I either don't remember or it hasn't been stated, but why do priests get this power? Or people are regarded as priests _because_ they gained it? How do they awaken it? I think Yamaha said her sister had suddenly gotten it, with no explanation

So we know Kyoka asked Yuru to arrange a living transfer for Danji and Kiri, but who do you think will be their next master? I don't think she meant Yuru to be their master, as he already has Right and Left, and he's in constant danger, so I don't think she wants that for them.

My two guesses are:

- Ken. As of now he hasn't got a new tsugai pair. I think he'd get on well with Danji and Kiri, with his kind and level-headed personality.

- Azami. I'm not so sure on her as a master. I think she's young, but she's being through a lot already and I think she'll become important later in the story, there's a reason she's still around. She might want to confront Gabby in the future, and she might think a tsugai pair would be handy.

What do you think?

Asa and Yuru met Mineyama, and we see Asa using Break (to break the contract between Mineyama and her daemon pair?), but on the next page Asa is back in the Kagemori manor. There's no follow-up of this exchange, so I think Arakawa is keeping something from us to reveal later. What do you think they talked about?

u/Medical-Efficiency-6 — 2 months ago

Do you think it's true Dera doesn't have a contract with any daemons? He said his daemons died and claimed he hasn't got a new pair because he's still attached to them... but he's the new head of the Tadera clan, he has ties with Higashi village, he's got a dangerous job, would he really keep away from getting a new daemon pair? He does acknowledge that it'd be smarter to contract with a new one, but he's just been putting it off.

But when he went to pick Yuru up from the Kagemori's, he supposedly entered the manor completely unarmed. Did he trust the Kagemori not to harm him since Yuru was there? Did he expect Yuru and the Divine Pair to protect him? Or did he have an ace up his sleeve, that is, a secret daemon pair? The countertheory is that Left and Right don't seem to sense his daemons. They said him having daemons would explain a lot, for example, the fact that he can see them. They do ask him where they are. So maybe if they're hidden, that would explain why they can't sense them. Maybe they can tell he's got a pair, but as they can't see them or sense them nearby, they just got to believe him. Although when Dera gives his reasons, Left and Right don't seem convinced.

So what are your thoughts?

There's a lot of discussion whether the Higashi villagers were innocent or not. You could argue that the one making the calls is Granny Yamaha, but still, the villagers are all participating in the deception. They had no qualms in keeping Asa locked in a cell, and after she escaped, making Yuru believe his sister was still there, as well as sending assassins after him. Even if they were not the ones orchestrating the attacks, they were fully aware and completely on board. They even went as far as telling Yuru *to his face* they were eagerly waiting for him to die (when the possibility of Yuru not coming back is there, and they know it since it happened before). Not only that, they want Yuru to claim that power for something as absurd and evil as world domination. They only see the twins as vessels.

For them to be really innocent, they should've been unaware of the whole prophecy, treating Yuru as an equal, and trying to protect him after the attack. Instead, they still want him dead.

There's a rite of passage when you become of age in the village: you learn the truth about the twins. If you're against it, you have to leave the village. If you are on board, you stay and keep the secret. All of the villagers had the chance to leave had they been against killing the twins. Or if they stayed, they could have done something to protect Yuru. They didn't. So the ones who were in the village during the Kagemori attack were all guilty. Even Kyoka (Danji's master) said the attack was their day of reckoning.

We can still argue the way Gabby and Asa raided the village was excessive knowing there were innocent kids there, but I don't believe the villagers were completely innocent either. Just because they didn't have any way to defend themselves doesn't mean they wouldn't have attacked Yuru if they thought it'd help them win.

That's the end of my rant

I was surprised when I heard it had a female voice actor lol I don't even remember if they ever said it in the manga

EDIT I know women voice male characters, but in the episode Bunbun's voice was high-pitched and cutesy, and it sounded like the character was female, not the VA doing a male voice. I'm watching the anime in Japanese. No idea about the dub

EDIT 2 so I googled Bunbun to check who its VA was and in the AI review which is the first thing that appears even though I didn't request it, now it says that Bunbun's VA has got a "surprising voice" just because I made this post 30 minutes ago lol this shit is so crappy it's almost hilarious, don't trust AI folks, its source are dumb posts like this
