Why dont we talk enough/more about the Rohingya issue?
We can't properly sustain them while also struggling to sustain our own population with basic necessities first.
Rohingya birthrates are now higher than the Bengali birthrates in the country.
The refugee numbers are said to be higher than the estimated numbers.
There are Rohingyas that are leaving the camps without authorization, looking for jobs or even permanent settlement in this country.
Some are forging birth certificate, passports etc to pass as a Bangladeshi citizen.
Local Bangladeshi population is marrying refugees there there in Cox's Bazar Islamically or illegally or both.
These refugees are being exploited by other Bangladeshis with a low wage, making the natives there lose the opportunities for labour jobs.
There have been documented cases in which Rohingya individuals or groups have committed violent crimes against Bangladeshis.
Myanmar keeps promoting this "Rohingyas and Bengalis are the same" propaganda, because wow some people of the two groups that lived side by side for centuries happen to look the same while ignoring how different the two groups are culturally, linguistically and ethnically. And our own people are also falling for this racist propaganda because the majority of the two ethnic groups happen to share the same religion.
When these issues are already not being addressed enough/more, we have a group of people who wants to give Rohingyas the Bangladeshi citizenship due to "muslim brotherhood" while ignoring the fact that this is what the Burmese supremists and the Myanmar's racist government really wants, they want to erase the ethnic identity of these people and the fact that Arakan is their ancestrial land.
We may not be able to do anything by just talking but we aren't even talking about this. Can we atleast not bring attention to this issue? Because it is something that needs to be given attention atleast. This is a humanitarian issue. And for us especially, this is also an economical and regional issue.
