My friend got hired just 5 months ago, and now he's been laid off

I have a friend who works with me at a big company (FANG style, for the post lets not expose the company name), he got accepted to the the company about 4 months ago, the company is earning a lot (and i mean a lot of money) and the management made sure to tell us that as well.

Today the company called for a massive payoff, me and my friend are both working in a different teams.
While i was not affected his team just got deleted in a single day.
Makes me wonder, why would such big companies hire people just fire them shortly after, its very weird, its not like they lake money or something like this.

The frustrating thing is that my friend is not full time employ but a contractor, contractors in our site were not affected but because he is the only contractor on his team and the department is been shut off he is being laid off as well.

Because he is a contractor he will not get any of the full time employ layoff benefits, I feel kind of bad because i got him this work , i recommended him to my contractor company and he got the interview and the job, now they are firing him.

Well, I guess that at the end of the day the average worker is just another number

I ordered SanDisk sd card and got different brand, is it legit branch to use for the Rs36 Backup sd card?

Do you have any idea if this brand of sd card is reliable and good like the one from SanDisk ? I ordered a SanDisk but got this one instead for some reason.

I checked the compatiblity list (https://handhelds.wiki/R36S\_Compatibility\_Lists#SD\_Cards) and i saw that Silicon Power sd cards are compatible, but will it make any difference if I will use this one and not SanDisk? I want to know if to bother with returning this order

Looking for games recommendations (PK R36S)

So I recently got this version of the console:

R36PLUS 4.0 Inch Portable Game Console Large Screen 20000+ Games PK R36S Portable Video Player Pocket Gift for Kids Arcos System

Everything seems fine, the default sd card came with a lot of games, im looking for a game to pass my time in a flight.

I mostly like games like mario, the binding of issac, god of war, Crash bandicoot and i dont mind playing puzzle games like plants vs zombies.

What games do you think I will enjoy ?

This is useful, the passive chocolate item let me makes me poop every 30 seconds, and with petrified poop I get gold as I ruin the poop -> boom profit

A while ago I started a side project with two goals in mind:

  • Fix a problem that kept bothering me, outdated or broken links in old, unmaintained README files
  • Build a "community first" project where contributors actually learn from code reviews and fast responses from my side

At first, things went pretty smoothly. People started joining contributing and giving great feedback. Some even told me they learned a lot from the project. It slowly picked up stars and momentum.

Then out of nowhere boom, Bots and lots of them.

I started getting waves of low quality PRs and comments, clearly AI generated.

PRs that are full of nonsense like stupid commends or completely miss the point.

To deal with this, I tried a couple of things:

  • Added a clear note in the README: AI generated contributions without human review will be closed automatically
  • Created an md file with strict guidelines on how code should be written in the project

Both helped a lot. The amount of spammy PRs dropped, and even AI assisted contributions became more structured and easier to review.

Today the project has:

  • ~100 stars
  • ~90 contributors

More importantly, it’s actually fun to maintain, and I keep learning from it every day.
