HIRING UGC creators for sports performance app (athletes / fitness folks preferred)

Hey all 👋

We're a small, well-funded sports tech startup (pre-seed, neuroscience-based training app) looking for our first batch of UGC creators. We're being upfront about the budget so nobody wastes time: $100 per approved video. We're looking for the right early creators we can grow with.

About the app (briefly, not the point of the post): A mobile app that tells athletes how hard to train each day based on HRV, recovery, sleep, and nervous system readiness. Used by some Serie A football clubs and pro teams. Now opening up more to the broader athlete/fitness audience.

Who we're looking for:

  • People who actually train (running, lifting, cycling, CrossFit, team sports — any of it)
  • Comfortable on camera, decent phone footage, good lighting
  • Based in EU or US
  • Bonus if you already post fitness content on TikTok/IG

What you'd create:

  • 30-60 second authentic videos (not heavily scripted, we want your voice)
  • Talking head, "day in my training" style, or "I tried this app for X weeks"
  • One video per brief; we'll send a clear creative brief, you have freedom on execution

What we offer:

  • $100 per approved video, paid within 7 days
  • Free access to the app
  • Recurring work if first batch goes well (we want long-term collabs, not one-offs)
  • Usage rights for the video on our channels (we'll credit you)

Voi come gestite allenamento + lavoro stressante? Vi affidate a sensazioni o a dati?

Ciao a tutti, primo post qui anche se vi leggo da un po'.

Sono un italiano a Berlino, faccio palestra/endurance da un paio di anni. Niente di che a livello agonistico, qualche gara amatoriale ogni tanto.

Mi alleno con una certa costanza, ma ho una vita lavorativa abbastanza piena e a volte faccio fatica a essere regolare. O semplicemente arrivo in palestra dopo 10 ore di lavoro e stress, e non so più se ha senso spingere o se sto solo facendo danni.

Da un po' di tempo mi sono messo a leggere robe su sistema nervoso, recovery, readiness etc. Mi sono chiesto se davvero il sistema nervoso influisce così tanto sull'allenamento come dicono, e se misurarlo abbia senso anche per uno come me che non gareggia.

Ora ci lavoro pure su queste cose (non dico cosa, non è il senso del post e non voglio vendere niente).

Volevo capire come la vivete voi:

  1. Come decidete se spingere o scalare? A sensazione? Dati dei dispositivi wearable? Una regola fissa tipo "se ho dormito meno di 7 ore vado piano"?
  2. Chi usa Whoop / Oura / Garmin / Apple Watch, vi fidate dei punteggi di readiness o vi sembrano un po' a caso? Vi hanno mai fatto davvero cambiare un allenamento?
  3. Vi è mai capitato di rendervi conto dopo settimane di essere in sovrallenamento senza accorgervene? Come l'avete capito?
  4. Chi si allena con un coach: vi chiede mai come avete dormito, lo stress della settimana, come vi sentite? O il piano è quello e basta?

Curioso davvero di sentire come la gestite voi.

Reached 520 (free) users but struggling to find more

Wanted to share where we're at and get some honest input from people who've been here.

What we're building: A mobile app in the sports performance space. Athletes do short cognitive tests on their phone + sync wearable data, and get a daily readiness score that tells them whether to push or back off in training. B2C app + a B2B dashboard for coaches.

Where we are:

  • 0 → ~100 users in the first few months (mostly friends, network, design partner athletes)
  • 100 → 520 over the last 2 months (mostly organic, some Instagram content, some founder posting on LinkedIn)
  • A handful of pro teams using the B2B side (design partners not paying us yet)

What's been working a bit:

  • Long-form Instagram carousels explaining the science. Quite slow to build but quality follows
  • Cold outreach on LinkedIn to athletes using automation tools
  • Word of mouth inside niche athlete communities. This is very slow and not scalable

What hasn't worked:

  • Paid ads: can't seem to get this going. Meta keeps rejecting us. Anyone had problems enabling ads for a health/fitness app?
  • App Store organic: we're basically invisible without rankings

Where I'm stuck: The curve in the screenshot is healthy but clearly linear, not the inflection most consumer apps need. Everything growing right now is hand-made by me or my cofounder. We don't have a repeatable engine yet.

What we want to try next: UGC feels like a natural fit and it feels like every app does that ata. a certain point. Looking at tools like Sideshift to source creators at scale, did anyone use tools like that one or want to share their experience?

Some questions for anyone who's grown a consumer app past this stage:

  1. Has anyone used Sideshift or a similar tool? Did it work? Is there a real benefit compared to doing it manually, The tools seem quite expensive.
  2. ASO: what actually moved the needle for you? Keyword optimization, screenshots, ratings velocity, paid Apple Search Ads to bootstrap rankings? At what users number did it start being worth the effort?
  3. For those who went B2C + B2B in parallel — at what point did you have to pick one to focus growth efforts on?

Where does sport psychology fit alongside neuroscience-based readiness tools? Curious for practitioner perspectives.

Hi all, kind of new to reddit and especially this sub, it's my first post.

I work in the applied neuroscience / sport performance space (won't name the product, not the point of this post) and I'd genuinely value perspective from people actually doing this work day-to-day.

The team I work with focuses on measuring nervous system readiness in athletes — cognitive tests on a phone, HRV, sleep, reaction time. The output is essentially a daily "are you ready to train hard or should you back off" signal that coaches use to adapt load.

Something I keep noticing: in most of the teams we're working with, there's a sport psychologist already embedded in the staff. That wasn't really on my radar when we started, and now I'm curious how the role actually works in practice.

So a few honest questions:

  1. When you work with athletes or teams, how much of what you do overlaps with what objective readiness data could inform vs. what only shows up in conversation?
  2. Have any of you worked alongside data-driven performance tools (HRV apps, force plates, cognitive testing platforms)? Did it help, get in the way, or just get ignored?
  3. Where do you draw the line between "this is a sport psych conversation" and "this is a S&C / coach conversation"? Is that line cleaner in pro environments than in semi-pro or youth?
  4. If a platform like the one I described wanted to be genuinely useful to sport psychologists rather than stepping on your toes, what would that look like?
