(A) The idea behind the app

I’ve always liked the idea of keeping a diary, but many journaling apps felt like too much.

Sometimes you don’t want prompts, complicated systems, goals, or a dozen productivity features. You just want to quickly record how you felt today, write a few lines, add a photo, and come back to it later.

That’s why I built Today Is..., a simple mood diary app for iPhone.

(B) What makes it different

My goal was to make journaling feel easy and personal rather than like another task you have to complete.

Mood Icons: Choose an icon that represents how you feel today. There are multiple icon styles, so you can personalize how your emotions are displayed.

Simple Journal Writing: Write anything from a single sentence to a full diary entry without a complicated setup.

Photos & Emojis: Add photos and emojis to capture moments and memories along with your writing.

Custom Fonts: Choose different fonts to make the diary feel more personal and match the mood you like.

Monthly & Yearly Views: Look back at your entries over time and see your past days and emotions more easily.

Book-style Reading: Flip through your past diary entries like pages in a book.

Search: Find old entries by date or keyword when you want to revisit a specific memory.

I tried to keep the app simple. It’s not meant to turn journaling into another productivity system. It’s just a place to record your day and your feelings.

(C) Cost

The app is free to download and use.

There is a one-time $1.99 purchase to remove ads and unlock additional mood icons.

No subscription.

Does AdMob SDK version affect ad revenue?

I feel like my AdMob revenue decreases every time I update the AdMob SDK version.

Do others also feel that revenue changes depending on the SDK version? Or am I the only one who feels this way?

I know revenue can be affected by many factors, but I’m curious if anyone has noticed a similar pattern after updating the SDK.

Is it against AdMob policy to show a banner ad continuously in a clock app?

I’m developing an iOS clock style app.

The app has a banner ad at the bottom using AdMob. Since it is a clock app, some users may keep the app open for a long time, like a desk clock.

I’m not manually refreshing the ad with a timer in my code. I only load the banner normally, and the AdMob ad unit uses “Google optimized” automatic refresh.

My concern is:

If a user keeps the app open for several hours, the banner ad may stay visible and refresh automatically during that time.

Would this be considered a policy violation or invalid traffic risk?

Or is it okay as long as I don’t manually force frequent ad reloads and just use AdMob’s Google optimized auto refresh?

Also, should I do anything special when the app goes into the background or when the screen is off?

Thanks in advance.

Are there any websites where I can offer promo codes for in-app purchases?

I made an app and added ads to it. I’d like to offer promo codes for an in-app purchase that removes ads, but it seems like Reddit doesn’t allow this in some communities.

Are there any websites or communities where I can promote my app by offering in-app purchase promo codes?

Has anyone here tried submitting a featuring request?

Has anyone here ever gotten their app featured on the App Store after submitting a featuring request?

I’ve submitted a few requests myself, but unfortunately I’ve never had any success with it.

I built PIXEL.CAM, a simple iOS app for dot pixel and ASCII photo effects

I built a small iOS app called PIXEL.CAM.

It started as a simple camera experiment, but I wanted a faster way to create retro-looking visuals without opening a full photo editor. The app lets you apply circular dot pixel effects in real time, adjust the pixel size, switch to ASCII mode, and now import existing photos to apply the same effects.

Main features:

- Live dot pixel camera

- Import existing photos

- Adjustable pixel size

- ASCII mode

- Save the final image to your photo library

I know this is more of a creative utility than a traditional task manager, but I thought it might be useful for people who make quick visuals, thumbnails, social posts, or retro-style content.

I’d really appreciate any honest feedback on the idea, UI, or what would make it more useful.
