Matchmaking. Who wins?

After last week:

  1. Abdullah Mason vs Raymond Muratalla:

My top two at 135. Great fight and both under TR. Unlikely to happen, but who do you got here? Winner becomes a low level star and solidified elite class.

  1. Delante Johnson vs Rohan Polanco

Crazy stats

- both 2021 olympians and 27 years old

- both 18-0 with 10 KOs

- both were highly anticipated before some lackluster performances

Perfect Top rank sink or swim fight? How do you not make this matchup. Drop the loser

  1. Bruce Carrington vs Angelo Leo

Can make this quite easily. Huge opportunity for each. Carrington is active but slipping in the eyes of fans, Leo is pretty inactive but fighting well his last few.

What do you think of these matchups? I’ve always wanted to be a matchmaker lol

Controversial opinion: Canelo and GGG

I think that a draw in the first fight is a completely reasonable result. Canelo winning the first three and last three rounds of the fight. One bad scorecard and general Canelo hate make people blow it way out of proportion, acting like it was a shutout. Canelo made him miss most of his punches with great head movement tbh.

However, I think a draw is being generous and giving Canelo the 50/50 rounds. If someone did take that fight, it was GGG by a round. But people act as if it was the most disgraceful robbery in history? When it was a draw in a competitive fight? Robbery gets thrown around too often.

Canelo also won the second fight without a doubt. I have no idea why people insist that GGG got robbed in the second fight. It was a clear Canelo win and probably the best win of his career.

In general, I think Canelo gets too much hate. I don’t have a bias for any particular fighter, but it gets annoying all the disrespect Canelo gets considering he carried the sport on his back in the post Floyd era and nobody has a resume even close to his. Maybe Usyk is somewhat close there. Canelo has given us huge events and great fights for over a decade.

And Mbilli is a tough fight coming off a loss plus year out of the ring and being at the tail end of career. Nobody talks about it because it’s common for Canelo but most guys never even fight a guy of Mbillis caliber. I’ll be sad when he’s done

Top Rank Cleveland Show Thoughts

My reaction and assessments after the Mason-Bell show:

Deric Davis:

Very disappointing performance. He lost this fight in my opinion. I’ve been very high on him but he’s got a long ways to go. Doesn’t look like a monster at all

Tiger Johnson:

Looked as solid as ever. He’s up there with the top WW now. Time to let him go for whatever fights he wants. Win or lose he is ready for title shots, top of the division. It’s time

Bruce Carrington:

Looked shaky against a C/D opponent. Talented fighter but will get beat by Espinoza, Figueroa. Makes sense why he hasn’t had a big fight yet because he’s not ending his career without a stoppage L somewhere

Abdullah Mason:

It was looking scary for him in the first half. But he was fighting a good boxer with a lot of experience and length, on short notice, who also is very familiar with him. Great second half though and he closed show even if the stoppage was early, the fight was his at that point in time. Definitely looked human though. Still, one of my favorite young fighters.

I would favor Muratalla over Mason right now though. It would be a great fight that he could win, but I’m thinking Raymond is top dog at 135 and Mason #2. That’s considering Tank to be inactive and out of the picture.

Thoughts?

Age Limit

How many of you were tatted between 18-20 years old and feel like you would never have gotten it/them if you had to be 21?

It’s not really enforceable by law but I wish shops had rules for 21+.

It doesn’t hurt that bad

This shouldn’t be a reason to not go for it. I was terrified of the pain and delayed starting because people on here claimed it was worse than childbirth. So ridiculous. It’s not that bad.

This is coming from someone with a medium-sized and very dense black all filled in. Not linework BS.

I thought I would be dreading every appointment, take weeks to recover, and have my life impacted greatly. The reality is I don’t sweat my appointments at all. You can do it.
