Amazing! 339.5 vs 252.9

I was so sick in March 2021. The first photo was taken just a few weeks before I had a bad bout of Covid. I actually don't remember my weight being 339.5. I was looking at my medical records and was shocked. My face now is at 252.5.

I am posting this, because I need to remember how far I have come. I know that I am not the only morbidly obese person fighting to get to a healthy weight.

Mounjaro has infused fresh hope that it is possible to get to the goal I have strive years for. I only started it 9 weeks ago and can see a big difference from my past attempts.

Is anyone else on a long journey like me?

This is not a sprint!

I have been on this fitness journey most of my life. My highest weight officially was 324 pounds. Today I weight 253.4 pounds! 🥰

The most difficult part of the past 30 years has been medical setbacks. It is mentally exhausting to have huge success at losing weight and then end up gaining it all back. I had double knee replacements, covid that caused issues for over a year, 3 years ago had a complete reverse shoulder, 2 years ago I had a concussion that still affects me today.

I have every excuse to just give up, but that is not in my DNA. My weight started creeping back up again after the concussion and the specialist told me I should limit my cardio sessions to 15 minutes at a low intensity.

That was in my head till my scale went well above my comfort level. I had to break out. Dealing with persistent post concussion syndrome is not easy, but I decided that it was time to do something different. My husband agreed and we purchased a recumbent elliptical machine. It was a slow start, but I kept going.

I saw my primary doctor in June and voiced my frustration as I weighed in at over 290 pounds. He said he was going to start me on Mounjaro. I have to be honest, I never heard of it before that day.

June 16th I started on Mounjaro and when I say it is a game changer I mean it! It is not the amount that I have lost, but the amount of help it has given me to do what I know needs to be done!

I actually believe I can get to a healthy weight! I am having fun working out again. My husband is going to upgrade my workout with a Bowflex for my birthday! 💪

I am so happy that Don is so supportive. I know he is also going to use the Bowflex so we are going to be doing some major shifting in our body composition.

My long term goal is to get under 160 pounds by 2028. My midterm goal is to get under 200 pounds by by March 2027. My short term goal is to hit 220 by the end of the year.

In the end I really want to be at a healthy weight and strong enough to hit 65 running! 🏃‍♀️

What I have learned from 9 weeks on Mounjaro! 💪

I have lost 12% of my starting weight. Starting weight of 290.4. Current weight is 255.7. It has been 9 weeks with a total weight loss of 35 pounds.

What have I learned so far:

I actually have an easier time self injecting than I thought I would.

The side effects I was so worried about didn't happen because I heeded smart advice on Reddit.

I actually can build muscle strength with resistance training bands and tubes. (Great for those who don't have lots of space.)

Quieting the cookie monster is possible!

My husband found out that I can eat less AND be happy at the same time.

I am sure everyone has a what I have learned so far statement that you would like to add.

31 pound loss in 7 weeks

I am so glad that my doctor started me on Mounjaro 7 weeks ago. Not only am I losing weight, but I actually am starting to see the results of all the hard workouts that I am doing!

I have changed how much I eat and how much I move. Working out is part of almost every day. 30-60 minutes of cardio and weights. I did a little taebo yesterday, which is the first time in years that I even tried. I have upgraded my resistance bands and now have a bar to attach tubing. I am determined to gain upper body strength! 💪

My daily diet is protein 1st, low carb vegetables and keto buns. I do not keep a food log, although I was on Atkins for years so I know what I can eat and not eat.

People may wonder why I don't count calories, but when you go from being obsessed with eating, it is nice not to think about food all the time! I eat on a budget, which means lots of Walmart rotisserie chickens, eggs, bacon, salad, stir-fry veggies, and protein powder. I only eat keto buns or bread. No rice, potatoes, carrots or any sugar. I do shoot for 100 grams of protein a day, but try not to obsess over it.

By the way, you can get chilled whole rotisserie chickens for $4!

The hardest part of this journey is knowing how far I still have to go. I have about 100 pounds that I need to lose. It would be nice to be out of the obese category in my adult life!

Mounjaro 1 month 25 pound loss!

One month on Mounjaro and I am down 25 pounds! 🥰

I am starting to notice a difference. I am exercising 6 days a week and am using resistance bands for strength training. I will start dumbbells soon.

No adverse side effects on 2.5 mg. I am going to start 5 mg Friday. Insurance sent the prescription to their preferred pharmacy which is in Canada. I am going from a single dose to multi dose pen.

Does anyone have advice for the new pen?

It was nice to have the single dose pen, but I heard there are advantages to the multi dose one.
