It makes me happy. And ain't no one can take it away. - The memory of my first Dead show.

The show was April 22, 2009. And I have my grandma to thank that i was able to go at all. It was graduation money I nearly completely forgot that paid my ticket.

I was a pretty new head then. Never heard Tennessee Jed before that day. - Told my deadhead friend "they played Tennessee Ted" lol.

My vantage point was the very back floor. I suppose it was before the show, I talked with two heads that seemed to have experience. Now that I think of it, I'd ask them a few times what songs were called. I asked them "you think they'll play darkstar?" His response was educational and very non-stifiling, he said "usually that's played at second set but who knows, anything can happen" So encouraging and nice the way he didn't shoot down the thought of a 1st set darkstar.

Second set they opened with Golden Road. And I think that may have been the song a guy grabbed my hand and we danced in circles for a bit. Two guys dancing. It was hippie energy all the way, not gay at, lol seriously.

Those are the bullet point memories I have of my first show. Thanks for reading
