Vegan ice cream & Cocktails
Ok so I have an even coming up and I’d love to do a blended milkshake type cocktail however I’ve recently discovered that alcohol completely denatures/melts something inside of soy good ice-cream in a way it definitely doesn’t do to non-vegan ice-cream.
What was supposed to be a boozy milkshake turned into a freezing cold vanilla soup.
Are any of the other brands of vegan ice-cream able to hold up to the addition of alcohol??? Or in another case, why the alcohol does this? I imagine it’s something to do with the alcohol coming up against the stabilisers/thickeners but I’d love to know what it is specifically.
I’ve had the blue ribbon vegan before, but I imagine it is going to have the same problem??
The only other option in my area is supposedly the pana organic ice-cream, which may work as it looks to be made mostly from coconut instead of proteins and gums (I love my proteins and gums ice-cream don’t get me wrong) only issue there is I’ve never actually seen it on the shelves despite the Woolworths app claiming its existence.
Also if anyone has experience clarifying cocktails with a vegan milk I’d love to hear about it!!
