Happy Birthday Maybelle!

Miss Maybelle, aka Maple Butt, turns three today! Enjoy some tube photos and a bonus photo at the end of her in work mode as Mall Cop Maybelle, atop her fortress, in the panopticon, glaring over her domain. We will also celebrate later with the less photogenic activity of warming up a ton of towels and piling them on the bed for her to root around in and hide. How that is a cat feature someone will have to explain to me 😂

Thoughts on Garment Labeling?

Looking to hear people’s thoughts the various ways brands are approaching their garment labels? Most specifically, I’m especially gobsmacked by the brands indicating you cut the entire garment tag(s) out after purchasing. If the goal is garments with longer lifespans, that can be resold multiple times, why would you removed the size, content, country of origin, and the garment care information!?!? These brands sit in industry meetings about sustainability and then do this kind of stuff and it’s so frustrating to me. And we don’t even need to talk about the side-seam multi-lingual booklets, do we? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m not looking to only grump, I wonder if anyone has thoughts on what would be a good approach to comfortable, durable garment labeling?

Please know while I have work within the fashion industry, I do not work for any brands, this is genuine curiosity. I work as a trade analyst for a broker doing imports, so I just know a lot of weird stuff 😆 The useful thing for this topic is to know that for the US, the FTC requires garment labels to be “conspicuously placed”, thus the itchy tags in the collar of your shirt and/or the tag(s) in the wearer’s inside left seam.

So, TiL, what would an ideal garment tag look like with an eye towards a long living garment that is passed from person to person over the years?

Humanitarian Device Return Import

I’m supporting, as a broker, a shipment that is a return of various medical devices that were shipped abroad at the behest of the WHO to help with humanitarian aid during a crisis. They were exported as donations.

I reached out to the FDA as the non-profit the items belong to is pretty stuck in regard to providing FDA info for the filing. The FDA said there is no workaround.

That being said, we are importing under HTSUS 9801.00.25 (pending port approval) but none of us on this shipment have filed with this code before. I’m treating the items like they will require the standard DEV/DFE/LST, etc… for medical devices, especially after the FDA said there was no “these are not used in the US, only stored not/in-an-FTZ, to be exported for another crisis when the WHO tells us to,”because my boss said she expected they would be.

But no one knows for sure because none of us have done it. The non-profit is having trouble getting a few of the mandatory FDA codes and the clock is ticking and the stress is climbing, so I wanted to ask if anyone else has experience using this code for import and the potential challenges with PGAs when we submit it to ACE?

I received my formal ASD diagnosis a couple weeks ago. My hope is that it would help me understand myself better and be able to explain how I experience the world to others better.

Instead, I have a bunch of test scores and a yes you are, but I don’t know what it means and my few attempts at trying to understand the testing have left me frustrated and empty handed.

I understand what a varied spectrum it is we are discussing and I thought the testing would help me identify my colors or flavors, as it were. I don’t like having this vague, amorphous awareness that I have some differences or limitations when engaging with others but can’t tell you what they are.

My social response T-scores on the SRS-2 were severe, across all five categories. Shouldn’t that translate to useable information? What about my socializing and communication is so different from an allistic person??

How is it I have my test results but am still left to “figure out my autism” by reading books and digging around the internet like I do not have this clinical data? It’s nonsensical!!!!

I just want to understand 😩
I am sure this reads a like sort of rant but I genuinely would love to know if anyone has resources for this because hahaha I have found nothing.
