Varanasi's budget is 1400 crore. Normally, the production budget doesn't include marketing/P&A, but the subpar visuals alongside the strong marketing campaign they started a year before release raises questions. Is SS Rajamouli misleading the audience with the budget, are they spending more on marketing than on making the film and set on delivering a subpar product with the big-budget label?
There isn’t a better image depiction than this for what's happening.
I apologize if I've hurt your feelings with my posts or comments, but I'm asking you one last time to forget all that and read this post.
Rajamouli said, "I like my villains more than the heroes."
Rajamouli never talked about his protagonist Rudhra or his lead actor Mahesh in any of the interviews.
Rajamouli said the movie is about the emotion between a father and a son. You immediately started assuming it's about Mahesh character and Prakash character, when in fact the it is about Kumbha and Prakash. I knew about this when the teaser was released and I spoke about it. I knew he didn't write a good character for Mahesh. To compensate for that and to not disappoint you fans he gave Lord Rama role.
Rajamouli said Mahesh is playing Lord Rama, he knows very well you wouldn't want anything more than seeing your hero as Lord Rama. Can you all be honest with yourselves and say you were more excited for Rudhra than for Lord Rama? He knows you'll keep blindly hyping the movie until release if he announced Lord Rama and that's what you've been continuously talking about since the teaser was released.
Rajamouli named the working title after Mahesh, and you all thought your hero was getting star treatment.
Rajamouli excelled at every step, he made you think the movie is about your hero alone, made you ignore the obvious, and made you talk only about Lord Rama and you're still continuing to do it. He's using you all, using your weakness of seeing your hero as Lord Rama to get to where he needs to. Rajamouli has reached global stardom, you don't need to support every single post or fight his battles online for him, let him do that.
Mahesh already got fooled by Rajamouli. He couldn't say no to him or his script and he's wasting his time on this movie. I don't want you to get fooled by Rajamouli and his tactics. Please think for yourself, and don't blindly hype whatever comes out assuming it's about your hero. This movie is not about Rudhra or your hero, it's about Kumbha.
If you stay silent and accept this, every director will come up with hype characters like this but if you revolt or don't support, you'll get better characters.
If after all this you still don't see it Mahesh Babu Ramudu, Mahesh Babu Ramudu japam chesukondi mimalni evaru baagu cheyaleru!
I'll go with "ABBA KODUKULU IDDARU LECHIPOTHARU"
Please don't downvote this post before reading it.
You all call everything you see PR at the slightest hint of something positive, why aren't you noticing something as obvious as Prithviraj gassing up Rajamouli? Rajamouli naming the working title after Mahesh, if you remember the Globetrotter event, Prithviraj gassed up Mahesh. Keeravani and Priyanka Chopra too everyone who got hold of the mic gassed up Mahesh. Why do you think that is? To please people, fans, so when someone like me points out bad things, you suppress their voice and defend the makers, that is what you've been doing. Please think about it, you'll realize that everything they did was disingenuous.
I don't turn a blind eye to this and neither should you. I was sure about the game Prithviraj is playing. After hearing multiple Malayalam people's views, I understood Prithiviraj is a master of deception, just like Rajamouli. And I’m starting to think that's why Rajamouli hired him.
Rajamouli and son, you may put Prithviraj at the forefront of your marketing campaign, get him to flex his vocabulary something he can't even pronounce correctly (I'm not even kidding, he pronounced "frantic" wrong in the Collider interview), get him to make controversial statements, get a movie-of-the-century status and try to fool people. But I have faith that people will catch your ruse. They may be a little late, but they'll eventually get there and your tomfoolery won't work and nothing you do will change what's about to happen in 2027. I know I hit the bullseye with my previous theories, and I'm right about this too.
To the few of you who are interested or planning to watch Varanasi, I want to remind you that these are the visuals and how the movie is likely to look on screen. It will be set largely in the slums of Varanasi and the ghats. From the glimpse released there doesn't appear to be significant heavy VFX work except for the Ramayana portion to justify their 1400 crore budget.
Would you be willing to spend your hard-earned money on this?

If producer KL Narayana and Rajamouli plan to raise ticket prices, it's only fair to ask where that money is going, a transparent breakdown of the production budget, how it's being used.
Upon seeing Varanasi, most people would think twice about collaborating with Rajamouli, since the ROI is minimal for the time invested. He'll likely struggle to find producers and actors, may return to low-budget films, make a film about a dog or cat, or in the worst case, take a long break and return to serials, where he started. What do you see him working on next?
Rajamouli had expected the wave to run through 2027, he must be trembling with fear at the audience's reaction this week.
I'd say he's succeeding
Rajamouli completely killed Mahesh fans' hopes of seeing him as James Bond, I don't think they'll wish him for any role after seeing this abomination.
Somehow the scenes from this film fit this very well, could this mean Idly fate...
He could either be playing a priest or aghori.
Please take care, don't show up in public.
