Will never be me...

The old chestnut it could never be me.

Addiction is a lonely place

I got to the grand age of 36 recreationally drinking and using party drugs. Here an there. Nothing consistent and didnt use anything for months at a time.

Something happened in my life which devastated me, turnt my world on its head. And here I am.

Abusing a substance and alcohol nearly every day for the past 10 months.

Functioning...for how long? Who knows.

Life really can be cruel and its even more frustrating to recognise the spiral and still not pull yourself out of it.

Just venting. I hope one day I will have the strength soon to stop and sort myself out

Its amazing how well problems can be hidden.

*if anybody wants a chat im up (no weird shit) just lonely and lost im in the uk, would appreciate anyone for a chat

Is 600mg too much?

OH had an episode for 3 months and was not medicated

After being arrested and put in a mental health unit he was given the dose of 600mg quetiapine to take daily back in January. He has now been on this medication for 8 months and is back to his "normal" self.

He said he doesnt like the forgetfulness hes encountering and feeling quite flat in mood

He wants to lower to 300mg,

My question is is 600mg a usual dose to take for this length of time? (He hasnt been given a diagnosis of any type of mental health conditions)

Anyone here decided to lower and did it effect you?

Thanks

Advice around contact Mental health of co parent

I'm hoping to get some insight from social workers who deal with child contact after a parent's serious mental health crisis.

My children's father experienced what appeared to be a psychotic episode that lasted around 6 months. During that time he became increasingly paranoid and erratic. He believed I was harming the children and that I was some kind of evil influence. None of these allegations were true and they seemed to stem from his deteriorating mental state.

We were together for around 10 years but never lived together. There had never been any previous domestic abuse incidents during our relationship. Unfortunately, during this period he assaulted me outside my home because he believed I was a threat to the children. He was convicted and sent to prison for ABH.

He is now medicated, no longer psychotic, and has full insight into what happened and the impact it had. He has not been diagnosed with any type of mental health diagnosis but they confirmed he was in psychosis for a long time.

We are no longer in a relationship and there is no possibility of reconciliation, but we do share two children.

My question is: when he is released from prison, what would social services typically do regarding contact? Would there usually be an assessment of his mental health, risk, and insight first? What might the process look like from there?

I appreciate that every case is different, but I'd be interested to hear how cases like this are generally approached.

Prior to this mental health breakdown he was never a risk to me or the children and we had never had any type of involvement with SS.

Thank you.
