Meet Machairidon! This is a derived ceratosaurid theropod descended from Genyodectes serus. This animal mimics a highly specific species and/or genus of trees (conifers) and mushroom(unspecified veetically-presenting mushrooms that soread through root-contact),(genera and/or species are undecided for either), that grow in their most frequent habitats, that being dense, semi-tropical jungles.
Machairidon is a sauropod specialist, happening to have effectively swapped niches with the resident Carcharodontosaurid, Cryptodontos thanator, during their co-evolution in this region, for extra context.
This is the first of several posts revolving around this specific fictional formation derived from the Cerro Barcino Formation, dubbed the 'Kryptos Biota', which takes place ≈80mya in the farthest coastal reaches of the Chubut Province of Argentina.
