Adult male Rex takes down a subadult duckbill - ballpoint pen (2022)
I did this piece specifically to experience with a more dramatic pose for the Tyrannosaurus and put it in a hunting scenario. Anatomy wise I’d make various changes compared to this nowadays, but I was looking for a balance of cinematic and to be accurate with the basics at least. The background I added digitally. I still have the original drawing, but I think I’ll definitely have a digitally colored version added to the portfolio sometime soon. I specifically drew a smaller Edmontosaurus because I think with today’s size calculations the adults would still want to go for the younger prey as the adult herbivores would be absolutely huge to take down, especially when a Rex would hunt solo. Let me know what you think of the piece overall. Blessings!
Realism is overwhelming.
It's funny how I spent years trying to improve the realism of my illustrations. For a while, I also moved away from dinosaurs. When I returned to them in digital format, I only did these two illustrations and got overwhelmed with the details of realism. Now I'm trying a new style.

Camarasaurus grandis
These are some of my illustrations from the reconstruction work I did on Camarasaurus grandis. Of all the animals I’ve worked on, this is my first sauropod. Reconstructing extinct animals requires a very specific methodology, which slows down the process, but the results are much more scientifically accurate.

the beautiful Macrauchenia Patachonica! | OC (made by me!)
I love this species so much and it KILLS me how it's only used as a punching bag for smilodon. Like, it's so interesting! I love this llama camel antelope horse giraffe, like it's so cute and has so many of its own quirks! Also, my first time drawing an extinct mammal. I've drawn dromaeosaurs and ornithischian dinosaurs, horses n cats, but not much else!
This gal's name is Michelle (´ω`)
Also, I'm not looking for critiques ^^ I had paleo-accuracy in mind but not strictly, it's stylised and not meant to be hyperrealistic!
Adelobasileus WIP [OC] + a question
How do you guys research your pieces? I’ve heard criticism of “shrink-wrapping”, but I don’t know how to determine where the fat and muscle should go on my dinosaurs’ faces. With Cenozoic animals it’s easier because they usually have more similar looking modern relatives, but earlier than that it gets trickier for me.
