How do you guys research your pieces? I’ve heard criticism of “shrink-wrapping”, but I don’t know how to determine where the fat and muscle should go on my dinosaurs’ faces. With Cenozoic animals it’s easier because they usually have more similar looking modern relatives, but earlier than that it gets trickier for me.

I had to watch this for a class and didn't have high expectations since I usually haven't enjoyed pre-1960 movies, but I actually ended up loving it. The music, visual symbolism, and lighting all come together really well to create an eerie atmosphere and I was surprised at the respect with which it seemed to treat Vodou, especially compared to White Zombie, which I had watched right before. All of the acting was very well done, especially the woman who plays the lead and the man who plays the zombie from the houmfort, even though the two roles are very different. Voiceover can be hard to pull off, but in this movie it's used sparingly and in a way that helps develop the point of view of Betsy. Let me know if you have any recommendations for someone who liked this movie!

1 week vs 1 year and 1 week. Not saying which is which to see if people can tell. Sometimes I think I look very different and sometimes I feel like nothing has changed at all. Same place but not the same lighting because my family changed the bathroom while I was at college.
