I am an amateur artist who doesn't understand anything about values and color theory, and I am struggling to see the point of the luma palette in the new feature. It makes no sense to me, it is said to show the colors in the same luminance range, but some colors are brighter and some are more pale in the luma palette.

Can someone please explain to me how they take advantage of the new feature and which of the two modes of luma palettes do they use?

I want to make my fantasy character East Asian coded/have East Asian features but I'm struggling to draw them convincingly. Both people I asked told me that so far the character doesn't read as Asian even though I gave her the (more open) epicanthic fold and undereye bags, which I thought would carry the design. I already tried making the eyes narrower vertically, but it makes her look sleepy and it's stereotypical. What do I change and do I need to? I had an idea of adding makeup in a flattering style, including the emphasis of the eye bags/aegyo-sal

For the record, the eyes in this sketch were already severely toned down to resemble a more human shape compared to my my usual style with cartoonish/anime shaped eyes with exaggerated eyelashes, so I'm really struggling here😅
