There is a lot of discussion around MSD's retirement and when he should (or should have) retired. But, if you look at the past few years, it becomes very obvious what his strategy was. It was just that there were constant mishaps. He wanted to chose his own successor to lead the team and be present for the first couple of seasons to guide the new leader (just like he did with Kohli at ICT)

2020 - announces retirement from international cricket

2021 - Wins IPL trophy

2022 - Chose Jadeja to lead the team as he is the second most senior player. Realises mid season that it doesn't work out and takes back captaincy

2023 - Team again wins the trophy. Ruturaj has played an important role in two trophy wins now.

2024 - Gives captaincy to Ruturaj and plays as a player

2025 - Now here is where things get a bit tricky. He had already spent one season in Ruturaj's captaincy and the team had almost qualified. Maybe he wanted to retire this season by playing last farewell game (not really sure). But Rutu gets injured and MS has to captain for the rest of the season.

2026 - Rutu has already spent 1.5 years captaining and MS decides to watch from the dugout this season to see how Rutu does without MS. MSD would have probably stepped in similar to 2022 if it wouldn't have worked out.

Now that we have had a fresh team that shows promise and a captain (despite his individual performance) that has a calm head on his shoulders, we will soon see a instagram post confirming that the leadership has been passed on to the new generation.

I had this question, if anybody could help me here. Microsoft Teams has a HR chatbot called Amber and it has a feature called Anonymous Ally. Can anybody with prior experience please confirm whether the concern you raise in anonymous ally really stays anonymous? I have recently raised a concern after going through months of extreme mental pressure and my job being at stake so I needed to know whether my manager would get to know about it.
