Luna

Luna

When Luna was disturbed from her nap by the toddler making loud monster truck noises. This was a couple years ago now, but I saw this group and thought you all would appreciate this picture.

New chair day! Cats like it. That’s the main thing. 😆

I’ve been waiting for a while and am excited my quickie Q300m mini finally came. So happy it fits throughout my house with the doors. 😁 2 /4 of my cats have already tried chilling on it, too.

I found the jansport adaptive bags fit well, but I need to find more accessories. Not sure where to look. I need seat covers, headrest covers, and a phone and cup holder too. If anyone has suggestions, I’d appreciate it!

I’m just so happy to have a tilting chair now, I needed it so badly.

Questions to ask medical supply company while they’re here

My power wheelchair was approved by insurance recently. It is being built basically right now, and I am waiting for the company to call for the next steps.

My question: what are some must ask questions for when they bring the wheelchair over to my home? The only wheelchair I have owned in the past was a pre owned Eagle HD wheelchair. I really do need the tilt / recline features so it’s a more complicated chair than the eagle. I know it is custom measured for me, but how do I know if something is off? I am used to sitting in a chair that is not comfortable and too big for me.

This is my first time going through the insurance process so I want to make sure I ask the right questions while I have the workers in the home. Thank you!

This is the chair and company in question:

Shaping & lifestyle questions

More square ish today, last week more round. Just jojoba oil on the nails, no other product. I don’t use nail polish.

My nail beds are very short from previous biting and poking under with wooden sticks. (Yes, I’ve stopped) I’m not really planning on having my nails be too much longer than the length they are right now. I have had almost no free edge for most of my life so this is new to me.

I’m wondering, what is the safer shape to maintain? And I know this is probably silly, but because I’m not used to more nail length, I’m still learning how to navigate without bonking the nails too much. Like I was used to just reaching for my hairbrush without worrying about it getting stuck under the nail. Certain things are easy to change - using tools to open cans for instance. Other things I’m still learning the hard way by bumping the nails.

I am probably overthinking this. But any advice is appreciated. I just don’t want to make anything worse.

Mr Flippy

He’s actually blind, deaf and has CH. Poor guy has a lot going on. But he’s still, well, an orange cat and chills on his heating pad for his daily existential crisis.

Storing mobility aids

Hi, I hope this is OK to ask. I will have one new wheelchair soon coming my way, but I also have one now backup eagle hd chair in addition to rollators. I am not planning to get rid of the backup wheelchair, but how do people safely store Mobility aids longer term? We have a basement, but I am worried about mice. Our garage would have the same pest concerns plus humidity issues so that’s out. Are there particular storage bags that are safer than others? Any battery considerations? Right now one of our hallways is a Mobility aid graveyard. Any considerations or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Progress

I spent many years being unkind to my nails, really. Biting, picking and digging. Only in the last year did I start to apply oil consistently and gently nudge the cuticles back; also use petroleum ointment as it prevents me from picking. Feel like I can see a difference. The last two nail pictures are from when I was still biting my nails about 4 to 5 years ago.

Still working on resisting digging under my nails and not really great at rounding out my nails with a glass file. I have figured out a rounded file works better for me.

I am continually working on improving my nail health, but wanted to share.

*no polish*

I hope to not make this inappropriate, but I don’t know where else to ask this. I have questions about intimacy and climaxes, so I guess if you are uncomfortable please skip the post.

Basically, I’m a middle age woman, and my ME is now severe, it was mild moderate for years before. The last year I crash when being intimate with my husband or after a solo climax. Even if I’m basically a flopped fish and try to keep all my muscles relaxed, I still crash my usual 48 hours later. I seem to be able to lazily “take care” of my spouse but can’t have any fun or any direct physical contact myself.

Obviously, it sucks. And I miss my doing that with my spouse. But I’m absolutely miserable during the cycle of the month when I’m ovulating. 😬😬😬 I will literally get a migraine over it. I also have more drive than I did in my 20s after being done with pregnancy and nursing for 8 years. It sucks that my spouse and I are very happy together otherwise. And because I am now so severe, I am really afraid to experience PEM.

I see my obgyn and she doesn’t understand ME or PEM at all. But is there a medication anyone takes to help, I don’t know, suppress the urge since I can’t right now? I’m not sure I want to be on the pill or antidepressants because, weight gain.

So I guess this is both a vent and a question. I hope it is OK to ask. Thank you.
