Sharpen all but pinkie?

Products: Pure jojoba oil.

Hi everyone! I've had grown out pinkies for awhile, and in the past few months started letting my other nails grow. I was initially planning on sharpening all but the pinkies (alá vintagedusties's nails), but started to be afraid of shaping them. Do you think it would look really strange, or sort of avant-garde chic? And for those with stilletos, do you feel that hardener is important for keeping a point w/o breakage?

Need help with shaping my natural nails

Hi my index finger nail naturally grows crooked, but I have no idea on how I should shape it so it’s an almond/oval shape. Please share any tips!

Almost 6 months of this journey ✨

My biggest goal was lengthening my nail-beds and I really feel like I see a difference, especially on certain fingers. Woohoooooo

No products pictured here except for jojoba oil on the current pics

Problems with Nailtiques 2.

I decided to try out Nailtiques 2 (because my nails are super thin, bendy, peel apart, etc). However, the Nailtiques comes off my nails after like a day. It just peels off in big sections (fortunately it’s not making the existing nail peeling any worse; it’s just the clear coat coming off). Anyone else have this problem? And did you find a strengthener you like better?

First Day Nail Polish

Hey LBWT!!

I am a newly graduated attorney who will be starting my first ever big girl job on Monday! I was wondering if I should go more conservative with my nails, like a white or a brown, or keep my signature red shimmer polish.

I’ve finally got my natural nails to a length I like, so this is where they will stay for the foreseeable future. For context, I’ll be starting at a small (3-5 attorney) T&E firm, all women.

Thanks!!!!

always laquered question

hello! i've been growing my nails out since the turn of the new year but i still cannot keep them naked without constant breakage, i understand i'm not gentle. i fix bikes, i crub things with a lot of elbow grease, i'm just wondering, is it mesing with my growth in the long run to never be without a layer of protective laquer?
using depend instant hero strenghtener and the occasional depend gel IQ on top of cuticle oil and regular hand cream

Russian manicure ruined my nails

I took my manicure off because I had 4 sidewall cracks at a certain length and figured my natural nail health was not good. As you can see, the damaged is a bit insane and I’m not sure where to even begin.

I started getting Russian manicures to stop me from picking and biting, and it helped a lot. But I feel like my nails were filed incorrectly and now has me back in square one.

Where do I begin with growing these out? :(

Swimming help

I’ve finally started being able to grow my nails out and am terrified of ruining all the progress due to summer pool days! Is there anything I can do to protect them more? Even though I’m in my 30’s, I’m still doing handstands and flips and diving for treasure, so they will be going through it 😂

swipe for the recovery 😳

YAAAYYYY I am SO happy!!! i started taking care of these bad boys a few months ago. in January i got gel nails done HORRIBLY, uncured, rings of fire, peeling nails after it was removed :( i had no clue how dangerous the uncured gel was alone until research and decided never again (well.. i am buying gel to diy at home but never risking a walk-in salon with that again!!). no more nail salons and invested in my own products to take care of them at home because WOW i didnt even know my nail bed could go back that far

okay.. no product on these nails currently BUT my go-to for lacquer is the sally hensen miracle gel line or the color therapy line. as long as i use polishes that "go together" i have a pretty good time and long last. in between polishes i file everything, cut/dissolve cuticles, push it all back, and put some cuticle oil on the whole nail plate and let it soak until they aren't wet anymore (i have been using jojoba oil after my cuticle oil ran out). next day or hours later I wipe them with some acetone or alcohol and then paint them. after all dry whenever i remember i will put some cutical oil on to keep the skin healthy throughout my wear. they are super freaking strong even naked like this!!!

anyways GOOD LUCK everyone on your nail journey you got this :)

Nail growing outwards- should I remove?

I'm pretty new to having nails strong enough to grow out even a little and so I have next to no idea how to even go about googling for advice, hence why I am here

The image shows how a bit of the side of my nail has seemed to just... grow sideways a bit? It's definitely nail, not hard skin, and is growing out very flat, not following the curve of the rest of my nail. It's starting to catch on things but I'm not sure if I should cut it or file it or just leave it alone?

Any ideas what caused it in the first place too? Thanks in advance folks

Cuticle care tips

Hello! I would love some beginner tips or if anyone knows reasons why my fingers have always looked like this.

Admittedly I don’t really know how to take care of them, but I drink lots of water, use a cuticle oil most nights (a new routine of the last 4 months), and slather hand cream 2-3 times a day. I trim the little hanging things every couple days with nail clippers. Decreasing or increasing any of the above never really makes a difference. I’ve never been a nail biter. I wonder if it’s genetic, because my husband does nothing and his are perfect.

Even after getting a manicure they start to go back to this within hours, and my hangnails end up being worse for a week or two, so I don’t get them done anymore.

I saw somewhere in my city offers Russian manicures and I’m wondering if that might be a good idea.

Any tips on fixing my nail beds due to pushing back the skin? Did I ruin them?

(English is not my first language) It's a bit of a nervous habit of mine to "clean" under my natural nails (with my other nails) since I was little, but I fear I've pushed my nail beds back too much :')

The first photo is my usual nail shape when dry, the second one is right after a shower where I feel the "whites" as they're "supposed to be" show, probably because of the moisture. (I hope I make sense, not sure how else to explain)

I'm trying really hard to quit the habit but I'm wondering if it's at all still possible to salvage my nail beds with a lot of patience, or if I've ruined them for life? I feel like it's thrown off the ratio of the white part of my nail vs the skin colored part of my nail plate, as it often looks like an inverted curve rather than a nice curved edge. Because of it I dislike the look of my nails, especially when I do try to apply regular polish french tips once in a blue moon.

Hoping someone can help, thanks in advance!

They grow fast 😅

Changed shapes. 1 week difference between 1st and 2nd photo. My nails grow super fast, as you can tell.

This is from 2 weeks ago. I already trimmed them and they are almost the same length as the 1st photo again 😅😅🤣

Hangnail or sidewall?

The side of a few of my nails (most evident on middle finger) have hard bits that I’ve been trying to patiently let grow and help rebuild my sidewall but I’ve been avoiding filing or clipping them for months and months and I don’t feel like they’re getting any better. The usually just get to a certain point where they start catching on clothing and get really annoying without ever really attaching to the sides of my nails. Is this my sidewall that I should keep being patient with or not? If it is sidewall, is there anything I can do to help it along other than constantly oiling my cuticles?

There are no products on my nails at the moment

Naked and afraid 💅🏼

Keep me and my naked nails in your thoughts as we traverse the day with nothing more than oil and spacial awareness.

And before the comments come in: yes, they're stained, and no, you don't need to point it out kthxbai 🙄
