AIBTS for getting annoyed that my coworker keeps eating my "premium" snacks?
So, we have a communal fridge and pantry area at work, but people generally bring their own stuff and keep it in their personal bags or marked containers.
I recently started buying these slightly expensive, high-end protein bars because they’re the only ones that don't upset my stomach. I keep the box on my desk. Last week, a coworker passed by, saw them, and asked if he could try one. I said sure, no problem.
The issue is, now he just walks by and grabs one every couple of days without asking. They’re like $3 a bar. Today I casually said, "Hey man, those are kind of pricey, mind leaving the rest for me?" He laughed, called me a hoarder, and said it’s "just a snack."
I feel super annoyed and a bit disrespected, but some other people in the office joke around like this all the time. Am I being too sensitive over a few protein bars, or is this actually rude?
What’s a word you read perfectly fine in your head for years, only to find out you were pronouncing it completely wrong out loud?
When you grow up reading a lot, you adopt a massive vocabulary of words you’ve never actually heard spoken by a real human being.
For the longest time, I thought epitome was pronounced "epi-tome" (rhyming with home). It wasn't until I said it out loud in a high school English class that my teacher gently corrected me, and I realized how absurd I sounded. I had the same issue with hyperbole (thinking it was "hyper-bowl").
What was that one word that betrayed you the moment you tried to use it in actual conversation?
