Baden Powell Road area

Hi all,

I’ve just bought a house off Baden Powell Road. I’m moving from Sheffield and I’ve visited the area a few times but can I ask honest opinions please?

Thanks so much!

Exhausted and confused

Hi all,

I’m sorry for this extremely long post in advance but I’m stuck and unsure of what to do.

In November, my partner and I rescued a beautiful calico girl off the streets. When she came to us, she was incredibly skinny and malnourished. The first few weeks of having her, I noticed that she was drinking A LOT. I wasn’t sure if this was normal (I’ve never had a cat before) and soon realised that it could be CKD.

I went to the vets in December and had her bloods done (I will attach results). They were not concerned and said she was fine. I then did some more research and realised her levels were in fact abnormal. We booked her in for another blood test and pushed for an answer re her kidneys. All this time, we were being made to feel like we were overbearing. This time, they put her on a renal diet and confirmed CKD - this reassured us for the time being.

I posted her results on a Reddit page and somebody told me that her white blood cells were incredibly high which often indicated a UTI. We rang the vets and booked her in again and they basically said “oh yeah she does have a UTI which can worsen kidney levels.” She was put on Cladaxxa twice a day for seven days. We received the blood test results which showed that the bacteria and UTI was still present. We were now registered at a different vets and they prescribed her another round of antibiotics - it wasn’t Cladaxxa but it was the same family if that makes sense.

Just today, I have received a phone call from the vets to say there is still bacteria present. They are hesitant for another round as they think it could make them antibiotic resistant. They said that sometimes, it can cause more harm than good.

For context:

- our girl is roughly 10 (could be older)

- she is on royal canin renal wet & dry food

- no obvious UTI (or CKD) symptoms except large clumps of urine litter

- when we first adopted her, she was 2.8kg and is now just over 3 so is gaining weight

- she is very affectionate and purrs lots

- zoomies roughly 3-6 times a day

- we give her Porus one with her food

- no longer drinks as much but I assume this is because of her water intake from renal wet

I would really appreciate some advice on what to do. Thank you so much.
