Petitioning a psychology 101 course because my degree is in psychology

Like the title says, my advising plan has me to take a Intro to psychology class. I don't see how that is required when my degree is in psychology and I have taken much more difficult psychology classes.

Do I really need to take the class?

Does anyone have experience with how I could go about testing out of it or getting a higher level psychology class to replace it? I contacted advising, but they basically just repeated my email back to me.

Just a rant about exams

I am so tired of being tested over things we have not seen. If you as a professor have several models and show us those models and give us access to those models, why give us a test using a completely different models that we don't even recognize?

Why say "you don't need to know this yet" and then have it on the exam?

What is wrong with giving a general review of what will be on the exam?

We all want to get As in the classes. It's possible to make these tests super hard, but it's also possible to make them very rigorous and still give us a wide guide over what will be covered.

It's like there are so many gotcha moments.

I am in a summer class at the start of my journey with A and P I...I came in wanting an A and if I didn't get an A, this would be the end of the nursing journey.

I feel like so much of this all depends on who your professor is. Right now, there is a professor at my same college that does open note tests. Obviously, my professor doesn't provide that.

I am not saying I want an easy A, but I want results. If I am studying for 4 hours a day, I should be seeing results. It feels great when I get a good grade, but it also stinks when there are "surprises" that I could not have possibly prepared for.

There are so many people in my class that are taking this class again. It stinks that they naturally perform better and our professors gauge their own success as educators by looking at their exam scores. Like, "well, someone got a 100, so it's possible." .... -yeah, this is his second time taking the class.

Am I alone in this? It's just so upsetting to see models or terms that we have never covered before.

I know I will have people saying, what do you expect and you're just complaining, but yeah, I guess I am. This is my rant. When people are paying money to take my class, I don't get how I could say, "yeah, let me try to trick them by giving them something new, or they should have the background knowledge to understand this....Either cover it in lecture, or explicitly tell me to study it and I will teach it to myself, but don't make me think we will just go over what you covered, and then give me things we never talked about or give me a model that is so difficult to understand.

How to get an A in a class, when you're taking a summer course and your professor quizzes you on information that wasn't gone over and isn't in the book.

Hey all, I'm not trying to be a complainer, but I need some advice. I have an A and P I professor and we are taking a Summer Course. We had our first exam and I studied the book, I studied material learned in class, and I still got a C. There were quite a few questions that were NOT even in the book. The professor said some of the information was what we needed as background information. I really wanted an A in the class because nursing programs are so competitive.

I am doing great in Lab, but lecture is kicking my butt for this reason. I can study for hours, and how is it possible for me to know what will be on the exam if it was not in lecture or the book.

Maybe someone has experience with this and can advise me. Maybe talk to the professor again or take practice tests somewhere (I am already doing all the practice problems and exams from the book), any ideas are appreciated.

Online Accelerated BSN Program

Hey, I'm taking prerequisites now and am so worried since I'm hearing how competitive everything is and preference is given to people who work at affiliated hospitals.

Well my thing is, can't we just apply to work at an affiliated hospital to improve chances of admission? Has someone done this?

Unemployment?

My previous school got rid of about 20 positions because they were downsizing. I was a late hire so I was dismissed. I remember signing something, but not 100% sure what. I think it was a resignation or something. Could I qualify for unemployment if I don’t find a job for the new school year?

Kids sports recommendations? ..newbies…easy-going

Does anyone recommend how to go about getting my 5 year old on a basketball team? I don’t know anything about sports and neither does he. I want something slow-paced. He’s a bit of a late-bloomer socially.

Any recommendations?

Has anyone gotten advising to allow them to skip a prerequisite class?

I want to see if I can take Anatomy and Physiology 2 and microbiology at the same time, but microbiology is a prerequisite for Anatomy and Physiology 2.

I have seen that a lot of colleges don’t have that prerequisite, though, and many students take them at the same time.

Recommendations for taking 2 more courses for the Fall semester…

Greetings,

I need 3 more prerequisites before applying to an Online accelerated BSN program, A and P 1 and 2, and microbiology. The deadline to apply is in January.

Right now, I’m taking A and P 1 as a mini summer semester. If I was smart, I would have done both A and Ps as mini summer semesters, but hindsight is 20/20.

Anyways, after A and P 1, the fall semester starts. I honestly wanted to be working full time and I also have kids. The good thing is that my family is helpful.

Does anyone know if more 4 week classes or mini-mesters or whatever exists? I can’t take A and P 2 and microbiology at the same time at my community college. And as I said, I really want to apply to the nursing school in January so I would need all three classes to be finished. I also have to do both A and Ps and then microbiology.

I also want to avoid portage. Thanks.

Motorized scooters and bikes illegal to ride on sidewalks!?!

If they are illegal to ride on sidewalks, why isn’t this being enforced?

I always see kids riding these bikes and saw a little kid almost get run over at the park today.

https://www.friscotexas.gov/1999/E-Bikes

edit: for those who are confused

Electric bicycles are permitted, but they HAVE TO HAVE pedals. What I saw today and what most of us have probably been seeing ARE e-bikes, which are not permissible unless on private property.

I have taught elementary for several years (started in 2015) I am thinking of switching to middle school and high school ELAR. Which tests do I need to take to do this?
