Considering Australia PhD (AI/ML) on student visa — how are jobs after graduation?

Hey everyone, I have 14 years of IT experience in the US and I'm seriously considering moving to Australia on a student visa to do a funded PhD in AI/ML.

Curious about a few things from people with actual experience:

How's the job market for PhD graduates in AI/ML in Australia right now?

Is it mostly academic or are there real industry roles?

How realistic is the PR pathway after the 485 post-study visa?

Any tips on cold emailing professors?

Is this a realistic option for my scenario, not financially, but you know will be able to get admission.

I'm married and have kids.

Wanted openions of expirenced PR batch

I'm 36, an experienced software engineer, currently in USA with 11 years of experience in the USA, and 3 years in india before coming to the USA. Currently in the USA on h1b. Prospects are not looking so bright here in the usa, at least not as good as it used to be. so I want to migrate to canada. I did my masters in cs from the usa and bachelors in india.

I am working on my express entry, and learnt very recently it's slower than a passenger train. I read in recent posts people are very distressed as the process is kind of saturated. I mean a lot of people are pouring in I suppose. Before I spend my time and energy on this rollercoaster ride, I want to ask how likely I'm getting PR and how soon? My chosen path is pnp like Alberta, or any onp for that matter. My goal is PR. Not a job in Canada. I feel like I should settle, I can't dance to these tunes of the visas any more. I'm 36, it feels too old to enter into a new country and play around. But here I am. FAFO.

I want a genuine opinion from experienced people on this journey. What do u think? Should I give it a shot? Is it worth the time? My goal is only PR, with PR stability. not making a lot of money atm. I want Canadian PR.

Warm regards,

Anyone is in process of migration to Australia from USA?

Hello,

Im working on my immigration documentation for australia. I'm Indian citizen with 10+ years of experience in USA and rest in india. total 12-13 years of IT software development experience. looks like my path is very unique as I'm not submitting pay stubs instead IRS documents as evidence for my employment along with employer and colleague letters. I heard from other posts its extremely frustrating to deal with ACS. so trying to find anyone on the same path as me.. I just started.
