UPMC Jameson SON vs UPMC Washington SON?

Hi! I just recently applied to UPMC Jameson New Castle campus for January 2027. I am waiting to hear back after submitting my hs and college transcripts, I’m exempt from TEAS exam. I have heard a mix of good and bad from different people regarding Jameson, so I feel super torn and confused.

To help myself a lot during the program I want to take A&P, micro, etc prior to going so I can focus solely on nursing classes and clinicals, minimizing my overall workload will help for sure.

I’d love to hear personal stories on Jameson vs Washington for the 16 month RN diploma. Thanks!

How hard to get into UPMC school of nursing RN diploma?

Hi everyone,
Just wondering how hard it is to get into UPMC SON? I just applied for January admission for Jameson campus. I wanted to also apply to Shadyside and Washington, but was just told by admissions I can only apply to 1 campus. I have a BS in biology already, not strongest Gpa but completed a hard degree. With a BS I’m exempt from TEAS exam. I meet all high school requirements with classes also. Thank you!!

Best certifications/short term programs after a B.S in biology?

Hello everyone,

I have been struggling to find entry level jobs with only a little lab experience and my BS degree. Everything is low pay or I can’t even get a call for an interview. I am open to any suggestions or hearing anyone’s personal stories of where you are now!!

I go back and forth considering different things. I know many go into teaching so I do consider that too. Just want a career with stable daylight hours, I never want to be 3rd shift. Thank you!

Interview advice for lab tech/analyst job

Hello! I have my Bachelors of Science in biology and have an interview for a lab tech/analyst in a cannabis testing lab near me. Any advice to help me prepare would be helpful!! I have college lab experience- ochem, general chemistry & bio, etc. I also have experience working with specimen processing in a veterinary office (blood, urine, etc). I am really hoping to land a job there since it’s close to home and pays well to start out and the company really interests me with what they do testing wise! I feel I don’t do best with on the spot questions so I am trying to prepare a little bit.

Has anyone looked into a recruiter or agency for job help?

Hi everyone!
I currently hold a B.S. in Biology and am thinking of looking into speaking with a recruiter to help me find a job in the field that pays well. I also want to go back to school for a short post baccalaureate program. I do worry about extra loans as my college loans are still pricy.

I’m more drawn to work in the laboratory in my field specifically.

Open to any advice. Thanks!

Best private student loan option for this new program?

Hi everyone!
I am currently looking to go back to school after completing my B.S. in Biology. I am looking to leave for early July 2026-Early September (10 week certificate program). I will be attending a new program ARTLAB/North Carolina Wesleyan University for Certificate in Reproductive Biology. The program is higher than a B.S./undergrad degree, but also not graduate/masters level. I am looking to take out ~$20k for my duration of the 10 weeks. They are not FAFSA eligible yet.

If anyone has a similar certificate program experience and taking out loans I am interested in your advice. I used Sallie Mae for my B.S. and the interest is very high. Although this isn’t the cheapest program I am looking forward to joining and breaking into the field of IVF/embryology with lab experience and great instructors. Thank you!
