Why and how are so many people since Covid getting diagnosed with ADHD and put on stimulants at age 35 and above?

I'm just wondering how someone goes a good portion of their adult working life and not know that they could have ADHD- or at least know their was a problem-earlier? Could it be that some just have some overlapping symptoms and don't really have ADHD or perhaps a mild form that doesn't need stimulants?
