Is this a problem with just my flat or the whole buildings pipes?
When I run the washing machine I get this really strong smell of rotten eggs and water and gunk comes up from the shower drain I've only lived in this flat a year and the eggy smell has been here before and even had this same issue.
Before, the plumber that came just pumped the drain a bit and said it was all fixed and that it was just because of food build up but I really don't think this is food at all it looks like a mix of dirt and hair from the previous people that lived here. Plus it's only been a month since the plumber came.
Can a plumber tell me what this problem might be because i googled it and apparently it could be to do with the sewer line? But honestly not sure and don't want them to call out another plumber and get charged again if it's actually for an issue that's not our fault. Any suggestions What this could be would be really appreciated because I don't want to run either the washing Machine or the shower now or message our landlord until we know.
ive tried pumping the drain out myself w the plunger but it just seems to be never ending bits of dirt and I can't reach a big chunk of blockage that unclogs it all
