How does this look?

This is my first frow so Im still learning. This is 5 days after S2B. Its growing really fast but after reading a lot I might not have added enough substrate. Its about 2 inch thick and people are saying it should be at least 4 inches. Think it will be fine and still grow after I put it in fruiting conditions?

Some advice please 🙏

Hey ya'll This is my first attempt at a grow after lurking for a few years.

This is the grain of the 6lbs grow kit I bought from surfin' spores. I received the substrate and grain in the mail on April 8th. I inoculated it on April 24th with some PE liquid spores.

This is what the grain looks like today (May 12th) after a break and shack on May 4th after 30%.

The website video says grow it in a bag but after watching countless videos I want to do it in a mono tube. I'm pretty sure I have all that I need. Just a few questions.

  1. Is the substrate still good even though its been almost 5 weeks since I received it in the mail? Its still sealed and has been sitting in the same conditions as my inoculated grain (dark 65-75 F)

  2. Is the thinking correct that I need that last 5% cover in mycelium before I S2B?

  3. Once I mix the grain and substrate in the mono tube, do I keep it covered with no air flow? Is it OK to have the holes in the mono tube with filters and let it be?

Im confused on after I mix in mono tube. Fruiting conditions require air flow. Do I wait for the mycelium to cake it up before I introduce air? Some videos methods are different from others so I am asking yours opinion.

My 2008 ram 2500 164k miles head gasket needs fixed. The shop I took it too wants 3,400 for a full replacment. My question is is the quote they game me legit? Im leaving the state in a few months and I will sell it before I leave so having it replaced would be a good selling point.
