AI question

I'm having fun with hard and medium ai, but I was wondering what kind of "upgrades" the ai gets when you raise the difficulty level.

Does it fight "smarter" or does it get the usual "cheats" to make the game harder?

1943 was a BAD year for the Lancastrians

Context: The Lancastrian Commonwealth is (was) the most powerful polity of the Southern Continent, a liberal democracy with strong capitalistic economy. In 1940 it invaded the Sebrenizja Sovereignty trying to exploit some unrest in its Raduban Basin's region to crush one of the Communist regimes of the coninent.

It went... badly. The initial invasion overextended and got beaten back, narrowly avoiding a complete encirclement and annihilation.

Meanwhile, in 1941, the Kingdom of Turitania invaded the Commonwealth's longstanding Leotian ally, almost overrunning it.

The year 1942 saw the Commonwealth coming back from those setbacks with a vengeance, conquering a large part of the Radubian Basin and stopping the Torrense advance in Leotia.

In 1943, however, it all crashed down when several powers joined both wars. The Socialist powers of Diarmait and Zawati joined the Sebrenitzja's side: the Diarmait sent a full complement Army to the Raduban Front, and the Zawati Coalition propped up the alliance with ammunition, artillery guns, fuel and loans. The same year the colonial power of Iraxcal joined the Laotian war with a massive fleet and an Invasion Army.

By the end of 1944 both wars ended with a decisive Commonwealth defeat. In the next few years the Commonwealth would splinter under the weight of the losses and the dissatisfaction of both its Corporations and the old monarchic dynasties, leading to the birth of the Australi Kingdom and the Harajo Secession. The Leotian Free States were partitioned between the Kingdom of Turitania and the Iraxcal Empire. The Sebrenitzja would retain control over the Raduban Basin.

However, the victorious states were also ravaged by instability and economical crisis due to the strain put on them by the wars, triggering a series of secessions and political fragmenting.

Sure thing, Sarhaan

The Gardara Sarhastra (Sarhastra means something like "Grand Khanate") is some kind of Mongol-like coalition that managed to industrialize and stay stable for the last 66 years under the rule of a Sarhaan (a title similar to Supreme Warlord) dynasty. Unlike most unified Sarhastra of the past, it didn't launch any attempt to conquer the entire Great Continent.

The problem is: any Sarhaan that DOESN'T wage war of conquests must have an iron grip on the various Dynasties to avoid a new "warlords' era". And the newest Sarhaan doesn't have it.

Cue Abban Raon, head of the Raon Dynasty, rallying his allies and raising a massive army to conquer the Al-Kashra province of the neighboring Karajin Confederation. Until now the Raon have been staunch supporters to the throne, and sometimes a strong Dynasty can prep up a shaky Sarhaan by conquering lands in its name. But Al-Kashra is a very rich province and conquering it could give the Raon Dynasty enough power to form his own Yakastra ("Khanate")...

Corrected Shot

If I understood correctly, corrected shots are more accurate artillery fires that happen when a unit with radio is within a certain distance of a radio-equipped arty's assigned target.

A couple questions:

1- does the radio "spotter" need to have line of sight to the target?

2- does the increased accuracy works for both attack orders and "attack position" orders?

Artillery in Forests

Can artillery guns be hidden in green forest without problems? I don't think it affects reload speed or precision, but better safe than sorry.

Field guns/at guns

I'm still fighting skirmishes with Easy AI and most of my problems come from the sheer number of field and at guns that fills every nook and cranny of the maps, going mostly unnoticed.

I've been using scout units in good positions but even when I'm able to spot them, it seems there is no efficient way to deal with them. I've tried using lots of artillery guns and pounding their positions but even if they are spotted and/or in open field it seems prohibitively hard to kill them with artillery. If they are inside cover forget about it.

How to deal with them efficiently?

Infantry with MGs

There are a lot of infantry units with MGs, are they worth it or is it vastly more effective to run a lighter infantry unit and a separated MG section?

Do those "mixed" units usually keep their distance to fire their MG from Max range, or will they get closer to be able to shoot rifles as well?
