Bardhaman, West Bengal: A Christian prayer meeting in Nerodighi, Bardhaman, was allegedly disrupted and vandalised on September 27 following accusations of religious conversion. Worshippers alleged that BJP and Bairang Dal activists entered the venue, assaulted participants, damageo property and took away electronic equipment. They also alleged that some women were assaulted and forced to perform sit-ups.

A written complaint was reportedly filed at Burdwan police station on behalf of Ankur Narula Ministries. Police have reportedly begun an investigation. The BJP and Bajrang Dal denied the allegations of assault and vandalism. Bajrang Dal member Indrani| Sai alleged that organisers were offering financial inducements to people to convert to Christianity, while BJP spokesperson Shantaroop De said any allegations of unlawful activity should be dealt with through the police and legal system.
