Pixel is ruined, suggested alternatives?

I loved my pixel 4 so when it died I thought the 8 would be a reasonable replacement. It's pissed me off since day one and with the switch from Google assistant to Gemini eliminating literally everything I used the Google assistant for, I would like to know what phones other people have that have a similar UI and some sort of halfway decent assistant feature to use voice commands (particularly while driving, as Gemini is completely useless with Android Auto). Any suggestions?

Auto read messages no longer an option?

I've had this phone since literally the day it was released and it's done nothing but make me whine that my pixel 4 was better. I've been trying for years to get the feature back where Android Auto used to automatically read incoming texts while I was driving and this week I scraped the bottom of the barrel to ask Gemini questions to try to find the correct setting to fix it. Has this feature been removed entirely? It seems pretty counterproductive to make me click a button on my screen to read the text, since that's no longer "hands free" and requires me to take my eyes off the road.

I've gone through all the settings I could possibly think of on my device settings, Android Auto, the car, and the Google assistant/maps. I'm open to any suggestions, I'm just so irritated that it isn't auto-reading my texts like it used to

Matched with this 31M last night, barely talked to him and then this happened 😂

Matched with this guy on tinder last night. He tried to make the conversation sexual a few times and I played dumb until he dropped it, then he texted me 8 times in 2 hours while I was busy and not responding to ask if I'm okay and ask me to text him. I was already pretty uninterested but then he said more dumb things and I got the ick, which leads us to this exchange

Mexican Street Corn Popcorn

I'm obsessed with this popcorn but I would really like to make a seasoning blend that tastes the same so I can add it to my own popcorn or whatever else I might be compelled to flavor elote style. I have tajin and the other normal elote seasonings and I've tried the Trader Joe's elote seasoning but none of it has the grilled sweet corn flavor I love

2023 Running after off

For context: I have had this car since the end of 2022 when I bought it brand new, I am the first and only owner, it has had regular service and has never done this before. The primary battery was replaced in August 2023 because I had an error I don't remember that was a major safety concern and I was told not to drive it until the battery was replaced.

So around 3 hours ago I got home, turned my car off, plugged it in, and went inside before the lights and everything shut off. I noticed a few times over the last couple hours that my phone kept connecting to the car via Bluetooth which is odd and only happens if it's on. At first I thought it was a glitch or something but the third time I decided I needed to go see if I accidentally left it on somehow. The screen showed it as off and charging, but a very loud fan was running. Like, louder than my car ever is even when it's on. It was as loud as a gasoline engine. I turned it on and off and while it was on the fan quieted but as soon as I turned it off the loud fan resumed. I did that a couple times and eventually just turned it off and unplugged the charger, then the fan finally stopped. It's about 50% charged but I'm afraid to continue charging it if it's somehow on/running despite the display indicating it's off. I don't want to risk it overheating or catching fire and I really don't understand what's happening. We're currently in a heat wave with 90-100°F temps so I thought maybe it was a cooling fan for the battery and it's too hot to charge but that doesn't really make sense to me. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas on what's going on or how to fix it? I saw there's a recall on something software related so I already have an appointment next week to update that and do basic service (tire rotation + inspection) but the technicians/mechanics at my local dealership aren't very well-informed about the EVs and there are only 2 EV Konas that they've ever worked on including mine so I'm doubtful of how helpful they'll be. They downplayed the safety error in 2023 when I first called and let me drive the car for a month before telling me it was dangerous to drive and they needed to replace the battery, so I'm not super trusting of their abilities.
